The indefinite articles 'un' and 'une' mean

you do not use the indefinite article (‘un’/’une’) before the job title.

you use the indefinite article (‘un’/’une’) before the job title.

When talking about jobs people do in French,

Translate: I am a computer scientist (masculine).

Il est coiffeur. Il travaille dans salon de coiffure.

Il est coiffeur. Il travaille dans un salon de coiffure.

Il est un coiffeur. Il travaille dans un salon de coiffure.

Translate: He is a hairdresser. He works in a hairdressing salon.
