Hello, my name is Mr. Womack and I'm really excited to be learning with you today.

We're going to work really hard and we're going to learn lots.

So let's get started.

Today's lesson is called Prophet Muhammad the leader, and it comes from the unit, Prophet Muhammad, how does he inspire Muslims today? By the end of the lesson, you'll be able to describe how many Muslims are inspired by the actions of Prophet Muhammad as a leader.

These are the key words that we're going to be using in the lesson.

We're going to practise saying them together.

I'm going to say them first, and then you are going to have a go at saying them.

Template.

Template.

Something that shows you how to do or make something like a pattern or model.

Interpret, interpret.

To explain or understand something in your own way.

Worldview.

Worldview.

The way you see and understand the world around you based on your beliefs and experiences.

Unity.

Unity.

Working together as one or being joined together to make something stronger.

So as we go through the lesson today, watch out because we'll keep returning to using these key words.

Here's the lesson outline for today.

In the first part of the lesson, we're going to look at why do Muslims follow the Prophet's actions? And in the second part of the lesson, we're going to look at why is the Prophet an ideal leader for Muslims? We're going to start with why do Muslims follow the Prophet's actions? Aisha explains theology in Religious Education.

Aisha says Theology is about looking at stories and texts and learning about when, why, and for who they were written.

We can better understand people's worldviews by examining how they have been interpreted both in the past and today.

In this lesson, we will look at a story from the life of Prophet Muhammad to better understand Muslim worldviews.

Prophet Muhammad is very important in Islam, and many Muslims look up to him for guidance in how to live their lives.

His actions and teachings serve as a template for how to live shaping the worldview of Muslims. By following this template, Muslims strive to reflect his teachings in their own actions and live a peaceful life.

So let's pause there for a moment and check our understanding with a quick question.

What do Prophet Muhammad's actions and teachings serve as for many Muslims? Is the answer A, a set of rules to follow, B, a template for how to live or C, a list of prayers to memorise? Pause the video now while you think which of these is the correct answer.

The answer is B, they serve as a template for how to live.

Well done if you got that answer correct.

Here's Jamila.

Jamila is a British, Sunni Muslim and has a Muslim worldview.

Her faith helps guide her actions every day, and she tries to live by the example set by Prophet Muhammad, showing love and care for everyone around her.

Jamila says "Prophet Muhammad is a great example for me.

His kindness, honesty, and the way he treated others are a template for how I try to live my life.

I try to be kind and helpful to everyone just like he was." Many Muslims interpret the actions of Prophet Muhammad to guide their lives.

One story of that shows this is how the Prophet stood for a Jewish funeral.

So let's hear that story.

One day, Prophet Muhammad was sitting with his companions when they came across a funeral procession.

The procession was for a Jewish person who had passed away.

As the procession passed by, the Prophet immediately stood up showing respect.

His companions surprised by this, asked him why he stood for someone who was not a Muslim.

The Prophet replied, "Isn't this a soul?" Human being.

He reminded them that all human beings, regardless of their faith, deserve respect and dignity because they are all creations of Allah.

The Prophet's action was a powerful lesson in showing kindness and respect to others, even those who were different from him teaching the companions the importance of empathy and respect for every human life.

This story shows how the Prophet taught Muslims to be kind to everyone, no matter their religion.

He believed that every person's life is important to Allah.

So let's pause for a moment and check our understanding with a quick question.

What did Prophet Muhammad do when he saw the Jewish funeral possession? Is the answer, A, he stood up to show respect, B, he ignored it, or C, he asked his companions to leave? Pause the video whilst you think.

Which one of these is the correct answer? The correct answer is A.

When Prophet Muhammad saw the Jewish funeral procession, he stood up to show respect.

Well done if you got the right answer.

Here's Ahmed.

Ahmed is a British, Sunni Muslim and has a Muslim worldview.

For him, following the example of the Prophet is not just about religion, it also shapes how he lives his everyday life, treats others, and views the world.

Ahmed is inspired by the kindness and respect Prophet Muhammad showed to everyone regardless of their faith.

Ahmed says, "Prophet Muhammad taught us to show respect and kindness to others no matter their beliefs or backgrounds." He says, "I try to live by this teaching every day by being friendly to all my classmates, even those who are different from me and always showing respect to everyone whether they share my faith or not." So let's pause there for a quick true or false question to check our understanding.

True or false? Prophet Muhammad taught that respect for others should be shown regardless of their faith.

Pause the video.

What do you think? Is the answer true or false, and why? The answer is true.

The story where Prophet Muhammad showed respect for the Jewish funeral procession is a powerful lesson in kindness and respect for all people.

Well done if you got that one right.

How do Prophet Muhammad's actions shape the Muslim worldview? Here's Jamila and Ahmed.

Jamila says, "Prophet Muhammad's actions are a template for how Muslims should act.

Teaching us to be kind, patient and honest with everyone.

By following his example, Muslims can live a peaceful and good life, which is part of their worldview." Ahmed says, "Prophet Muhammad's actions show a template for how to be kind and respectful to everyone no matter who they are.

His example helps Muslims understand a worldview where respect and kindness are important." Well, it's time for a task now.

Aisha says, "Prophet Muhammad's actions and teachings serve as a template for how to live shaping the worldview of Muslims." Aisha is trying to explain how Prophet Muhammad's actions shape the Muslim worldview.

Write two sentences to help Aisha explain and remember to include what we've learned from the incident at the Jewish funeral and what Jamila and Ahmed said.

You're going to need to pause the video now whilst you work to complete this task.

I look forward to hearing what you put.

Well, I wonder what you put for this task.

You might have said something like this.

The Prophet Muhammad's life is a template for how Muslims should treat others and live with compassion every day.

Or you might have said Prophet Muhammad showed that we should respect everyone no matter their religion.

When he stood up for the Jewish funeral, he taught Muslims that all people are valuable in the eyes of Allah.

By following the Prophet's actions and teachings of kindness, honesty, and patience, Muslims can live a peaceful and good life, which is an important part of their worldview.

Well, great job on completing that task.

Well done.

So that completes the first part of our lesson.

We're now going to move on to the second part, looking at why is the Prophet an ideal leader for Muslims? What makes a good leader? A good leader is someone who helps and guides others in a positive way.

They make good choices, care about others, and inspire people to work together.

Here are some of the qualities that make someone a good leader.

Kindness, fairness, honesty and patience.

They're excellent qualities to have in a leader, aren't they? So let's check our understanding with a quick true or false question.

True or false? A good leader is someone who only tells others what to do without helping or guiding them.

You're going to need to pause the video now whilst you think.

Is the answer true or false, and why? The answer is false.

A true leader helps and guides others, listens to their needs and supports them in making decisions.

Well done if you got that answer correct.

For many Muslims, Prophet Muhammad is considered the best leader because of his actions, behaviour, and the way he treated others.

Many Muslims interpret the story of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah as demonstrating Prophet Muhammad's leadership qualities.

Well, I think it's time to hear a little bit about that story.

In the sixth year after Prophet Muhammad and his followers moved to Medina, he had a special dream.

In the dream, he saw himself and his companions entering Mecca peacefully performing Umrah, pilgrimage and showing respect at the Kaaba.

Some of them shaved their heads while others cut their hair.

They also stayed at a place called Arafat.

This was a special dream because the Prophet's dreams were like messages from Allah.

So in the month of Zu al-Qa'dah, the 11th month in the Islamic calendar, the Prophet and about 1400 of his companions set out to perform Umrah in Mecca.

But when they reached a place called Hudaybiyyah, the people of Mecca stopped them from entering.

That's when an important agreement known as the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah was made between the Prophet Muhammad and the leaders of the Quraysh, the tribe that controlled Mecca at the time.

Treaty of Hudaybiyyah was very important because it helped bring peace between the Muslims and the people of Mecca.

Even though the Muslims wanted to enter Mecca, the treaty allowed them to wait and return the next year.

This showed that the Prophet Muhammad was patient and wise.

He understood that making peace was better than fighting.

By choosing peace, he prevented battle and opened the door for future cooperation.

The Prophet's decision to go along with the treaty despite the challenges was a sign of his great leadership qualities.

What a great story.

Let's pause for a moment and consider a question to check our understanding.

Which of the following describes the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah? Is the answer A, a trade agreement with Madinah? Is the answer, B, a law created by Prophet Muhammad? Or C, a peace treaty by Prophet Muhammad? You'll need to pause the video now whilst you consider which of these is the correct answer.

The correct answer is C.

The Treaty of Hudaybiyyah was a peace treaty by Prophet Muhammad.

Well done if you got that answer correct.

Prophet Muhammad showed fairness and patience by negotiating a peace treaty with a group who opposed him despite difficult conditions.

Hence, the 11th month of the Islamic calendar is known as the month of truce.

This event helped bring peace and unity, showcasing Prophet Muhammad's wisdom as a leader.

The 11th month of Islamic calendar is known as? Choose the correct answer.

Will you choose A, the month of truce B, the month of Umrah, or C, the month of darkness? Pause the video now whilst you check your understanding.

The correct answer is A.

It's the month of truce.

Well done if you got that answer correct.

Andeep, Sophia, Lucas and Aisha are discussing the lessons they learned from the story of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah.

Andeep says, "The Prophet stayed kind and calm, choosing peace, and showed we can be kind even when we're upset." Sophia says, "The Prophet was fair choosing peace, and we can be fair by treating others with equality." Lucas says, "The Prophet was honest even when it was hard, and we can show honesty by telling the truth." And Aisha says, "The Prophet showed patience and we can be patient by waiting for the right moment." The Prophet Muhammad is an ideal leader for Muslims because he showed kindness, fairness, honesty, patience, and unity.

He led by example, making wise choices, caring for others and treating everyone equally.

His teachings inspire many Muslims on how to live with love, justice, and a strong sense of unity, offering a perfect template for leadership and a worldview that values peace and fairness.

Well, let's take a moment and check our understanding with a quick question.

What makes Prophet Muhammad a perfect template for leadership? Is the answer A, his ability to lead by example with kindness and fairness, B, his popularity among people or C, his wealth and influence? Pause the video now whilst you think.

Which of these is the correct answer? The correct answer is A.

He makes a perfect template for leadership because of his ability to lead by example with kindness and fairness.

Well done if you've got the correct answer.

Here's Ahmed.

Ahmed thought about the amazing qualities of the Prophet.

Ahmed said, "The Prophet Muhammad showed us the power of kindness, patience, and fairness.

Even when things were difficult, he stayed calm and listened to everyone.

He always treated people with care, showing that understanding others and staying peaceful is the best way to solve problems. He made sure both sides in a disagreement were treated fairly and his honesty helped everyone trust him." Here's Jamila again.

Jamila says, "Through his actions, the Prophet Muhammad taught us that sometimes we need to make hard choices for the greater good, even if we don't know what will happen right away.

His wisdom and leadership brought peace to many, and his example continues to inspire us to be kind, fair, and thoughtful in our decisions." It's time for a task now.

Lucas wants to explain why Prophet Muhammad is an ideal leader for Muslims using the example of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah.

Help Lucas make a leadership qualities chart with four boxes, each representing one of the qualities of Prophet Muhammad.

In each box, write an example of how the Prophet showed that quality and then write a sentence about how Muslims are inspired by these actions today.

You're going to need to pause the video now whilst you complete this task.

I look forward to seeing what you put.

I wonder what you put.

Your leadership qualities chart might look something like this.

For kindness, you might have said the Prophet stayed kind and calm, choosing peace, and we can be kind even when we're upset.

For fairness, you might have said the Prophet was fair, choosing peace, and we can be fair by treating others equally.

For honesty, you might have said the Prophet was honest even when it was hard and we can show honesty by telling the truth.

And finally, for patience, you might have said, the Prophet showed patience and we can be patient by waiting for the right moment.

Well done for putting lots of effort into that task.

Great job.

So that brings us to the end of our lesson.

Let's summarise what we've learned together.

We've learned that the Prophet Muhammad's actions serve as a template for many Muslims, that the Prophet's life gives insight into the Muslim worldview as it emphasises kindness, understanding, and treating everyone with respect.

The Prophet Muhammad is an ideal leader for Muslims because his teachings inspire kindness, fairness, honesty, patience, and unity.

And stories and incidents from the Prophet's life can be interpreted in many ways showcasing his leadership qualities and offering valuable lessons for Muslims to follow.

Well done on completing this lesson.

It's been a pleasure to work alongside you, and I look forward to working with you again sometime soon.

Bye for now.
