In today's lesson, we will learn how to use verbs like ecrire in the present tense and how do you use the infinitive as a noun.

We will also revisit the sound symbol correspondence, r.

Before we begin, please make sure you're in a quiet place where you won't be distracted and that you have paper and something to write with.

Are you ready? In our French learning, we will be practising phonetique, the sounds of French and how they are written, vocabulaire, the words, and grammaire, how we put words together to make meaning.

You will practise all four skills; ecouter, listening, lire, reading, parler, speaking, and ecrire, writing.

To begin with today, we have a fun tongue twister activity to practise the rather difficult sound, r.

Remember last time I told you that this sound is quite difficult because it doesn't exist in English.

So you will need extra practise.

Repeat after the video as the tongue twisters get faster and rewind if you need to practise some more.

Our first one is all about a rare reptile who looks like it's been rival.

Let's have a go.

First of all, we'll listen to the slow tongue twister.

And now a little bit faster.

And now let's get even faster.

Let's have a listen to the next one.

This one's all about a rock that's rolling with rage along a rustic ramp.

Let's listen.

A little bit faster.

What about the next one? This one's all about a meal of waffles and rillettes.

Rillettes are minced pork, a bit like pate, you'll see the note that on the screen.

And a little bit faster.

And finally, let's try one about a rusty tractor.

And a little bit faster.

Let's practise for vocabulary now.

Write A to K on your paper.

And you will see the letters flashing image as I click through the PowerPoint.

After a few seconds, the image will go away.

And you have to write the French word next to the correct letter before the image fades away.

So the first one is an example.

When you see A flash, you say plural form, you have to write Write next to letter A right now.

Okay, let's continue.

So, so far A was the example that flashed first, then G, E, I, D.

And now And after B.

So, so far, you should have words written next to A, G, I, D, B, H, K, C, E, and now, and finally, Excellent.

That was really tricky remembering all those words that were introduced last time.

And not only remembering them but writing them correctly and spelling them right in a such a short time.

Check your answers, check your spellings carefully, and if you would like to do that activity again, simply go back and redo the activity if you would like some more practise.

Just to recap that vocabulary from last time, vous dites, you say plural form, l'autobus, which is often shortened to.

Conduire is the verb to drive, le lieu, the place, chaud, hot, l'abre, tree, la neige, snow, froid, , scolaire, school, as an adjective not as a noun.

So for example, school bus, when it's describing the bus, would be l'autobus scolaire.

Inscrire, and the verb to forbid, interdire.

For the next activity, you have to use the pictures to help answer the question in French, the question on the screen.

No need to write.

Just say your answer out loud.

Again, we're going to practise the vocabulary.

Let's try the next one.

The verb, to drive.

We are going to drive.

Where is the place? Fill in the answer.

Don't forget that the you, the plural form of the verb, dit, to say, is a little bit tricky.

Who says what? You will say, or you plural say that it is hot.

This verb, to forbid or to ban.

Hmm, this one is quite tricky.

Two adjectives to describe this thing.

What's the tree like? The tree is tall and or big and old, excellent.

Now let's have a look at some verbs that work in the same way as ecrire in the plural.

So they add a V to the stem in the plural forms. The verb, ecrire, to write, j'ecris, tu ecris, il/elle ecrit.

Don't forget that silent final constant.

But And the verbs, to describe and to fill in also follow this pattern.

Let's practise the different parts of these verbs, with a reading activity.

You have to recognise the pronoun.

Look at the ending of the verb and decide whether the pronoun is nous, we, vous, you plural, or il, they.

Pause the video while you write your answers.

Great.

Let's check.

For the first one, Hi, we're depending on you, we're writing the text in Italian.

Number two, they write very well in Italian.

We write up the words in a notebook.

But number four, they fill in or write more vocabulary than us.

Number five, they describe the things with new words.

Number seven.

That's right.

How did you do? That's right.

We write or we are writing a story.

You are writing a letter.

Now let's do a listening exercise.

Listen to each one, one to nine, and decide whether it is nous, vous or elles, that are doing the action.

In your notes, you could write nous, vous and elles and then the correct number next to the person that you think is doing the action for that sentence.

So for example, when we listen to number one, you hear that it's the verb form and you will know that that goes with nous.

So you'll put number one, next to nous.

Now, let's try number two.

You can hear the liaison there.

Listen one more time.

And again, you can hear the liaison again.

Number eight.

Check your answers.

As we already said, number one went with nous.

Great work.

If you did make any mistakes, you might want to rewind and play that again just to check where you made that mistake.

Let's move on.

Another listening exercise.

The teacher is giving instructions again.

What does he say? Which pronoun is required for each one? So for example, number one, Who's describing the ski slopes? It must be they because the verb form was Now you, write down the numbers two to eight and choose which pronoun goes with each one.

And number four.

Who's going to write to the families of the good students? Number six.

Quickly check your answers.

And just a note there that the ski structures has been replaced with the pronoun they in your answer.

Right? And number five.

And number seven.

Now have a look at those sentences that you just listened to.

And you can see how each part of the verb goes with the correct pronoun.

Great.

Let's move on.

This is quite a difficult activity.

So you work for an English magazine and you're interviewing a French writer.

You've got to read the notes and write appropriate questions.

What are you going to ask? Now, remember, in this situation, you're going to use the polite you, the vous form.

So for the first one, you're going to have to make a question.

How many stories are you writing? You might want to use the or you might decide to begin with Pause the video while you make your six questions.

Now let's check your answers.

While you are checking for accuracy and making your corrections, I will go through each question How many stories is she writing? So you need to ask, "How many stories are you writing?" Both of those options would be totally correct.

Don't forget you do need vous, the vous form, for your interview.

How are you going to describe the stories? How are we going to describe the stories? Now let's pick your questions.

While you are checking for accuracy and making your corrections, I will go through each question First question How many stories are you writing? You will ask, Both of those forms are totally correct.

But remember you do need vous.

How are we going to describe the stories? Do you write novels? Or you might use Or you might use inversion.

Number four, where do you write down ideas? Or you might want to start with a question word.

Do your stories describe France? When are we writing a story together? That was quite a difficult exercise so you may need to pause the video and take a little longer to check your answers and correct your French.

I am going to be partner A and you are going to be partner B.

You are going to look at the picture, for example, like the one that you can see on the screen, and shout out at home, the noun that completes the sentence that I begin.

For example, if I say for this one, That's it, I can all hear you shouting at home.

because you've recognised that is they write and so you'll need to use the first picture there in the example.

Okay, let's begin.

Now let's try these ones.

A, Because you heard that I chose to begin A.

Let's try B.

I can hear you all crying C, D, Did you remember the weather? Now let's make some backwards sentences.

This time I'm going to say one of the nouns that you see for each letter and the verb that I want you to conjugate correctly depending on which noun I choose.

So for example, for A, when I say , translate, you will make the sentence Let's try B.

write C, describe.

D, read.

E, write, Say.

Now it's time for us to say goodbye.

A really great job today, well done indeed.
