Counting in twos and fives.

Hello, everybody, I'm Miss Sidhu and we're going to do some wonderful maths today.

Now, in this lesson you will be counting in twos and fives from a given number within 50.

Let's skip count in twos, all the way to 20.

Two, four, six, eight, ten, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20.

Now, let's count up in fives all the way to 30.

Five, ten, 15, 20, 25, 30 Wow, super skip counting of twos and fives today.

Now, let's get started.

Welcome to today's lesson.

Today we will be skip counting in twos and fives, counting in twos ,counting in fives and an independent task.

You will need a pencil and a paper and a number square to 50 to help you.

There are times in the video where you may need to pause to have a go at some of the activities yourself.

Now, let's start our lesson.

Let's begin this lesson by practising counting in fives.

Everyone show me a five.

Give me a high five.

Now, each hand is holding up five.

So, each hand represents five.

I want you to pause the video and count how many there are altogether.

How many are there altogether? Let's count in fives.

Five, 10, 15, 20, 25, there are 25 altogether, so, the hands are showing 25 altogether.

Now, how can we count these cubes? Have a think.

Can you shout it out? Let's have a look.

We can count in twos.

There are 28 cubes altogether and it is quicker to count in twos then individually let's count them together.

So, two, four, six, eight, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28.

So, we can count the cubes in twos.

How about these cubes? How can we count these cubes? Have a think.

So, think maybe you want to think about the quickest way to count these cubes.

Can you shout it out? Let's have a look.

We can count the cubes in fives.

Let's count in fives to count the cubes.

Five, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, there are 35 cubes altogether.

Can we still count in fives? Having a look at the picture.

So, can we still count all of the cubes in fives? To having a think.

And now, I want you to tell me your answer.

So, can we still count in fives? Lots of different answers, some of you are saying yes, some of saying no.

Well, we can still counting fives, so we can count in fives.

But, then we count on with some of the cubes that are left over.

So, let's count in fives to the ones that have a red circle around.

So, we've got five, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and now we can count on so, 46, 47, 48.

So, we can still count in fives to help us count quicker, but then we can count on after.

All this counting with our twos and fives I think we're ready for today's independent task.

For the independent tasks today, I want you to count the coins in either twos or fives and write the total in the box.

And the same for the next question, so, count the coins in either two or fives and write the total in the box.

And here we've more coins that I want you to count in either twos or fives and write the total in the box.

Then we have a challenge, to count all the cubes.

You may want to use the number square to 50 to help you.

I want you to pause the video to complete your task and resume once you're finished.

The first one, the total of the coins is 30.

So, you can count in twos or in fives.

The next answer we have the total amount for the coins at 26 altogether.

Then we have a total of 42.

Wow, so many gold coins.

And for the challenge, we have 38 cubes altogether.
