Hello there.

My name is Mr. Tilstone.

I'm a teacher, and today I am going to be working with you on your maths lesson.

Our unit is all about time, and today's lesson is all about the days of the week.

So if you're ready, let's begin.

The outcome of today's lesson, what we'd like you to say at the end of the lesson, your target is I can use the days of the week to describe events.

Our keywords.

We've got the days of the week.

So ready for this? My turn, Sunday.

Your turn.

My turn.

Monday.

Your turn.

My turn.

Tuesday.

Your turn.

My turn.

Wednesday.

Your turn.

My turn.

Thursday.

Your turn.

My turn.

Friday.

Your turn.

My turn.

Saturday.

Your turn.

And our other keyword is going to be my turn, week.

Your turn.

Our lesson today is split into two cycles, two parts.

The first will be know the days of the week in order, and we just went through them in order.

And the second part will be use the days of the week to describe events.

So if you're ready, let's begin by knowing the days of the week in order.

In today's lesson, you're going to meet Sofia and Andeep.

Have you met them before? They're here today to give us a helping hand.

Do you know how many days there are in a week? There are seven days in a week.

Say that with me.

There are seven days in a week.

Now just you.

It's a very important fact.

So let's test.

How many days are there in a week? Shout it out.

Yes.

Seven.

Each of those seven days has a name, just like you've got a name.

Do you know any of the days of the week? Can you remember any of the keywords? They were the days of the week? Sofia knows a song to help her remember the days of the week.

Click or clap along with her and sing when you know it.

Now, if you've heard of a film called "Adam's Family" or seen that, you might know this tune.

If not, you'll pick the tune up.

Okay.

Are you ready? So it's the "Days of the Week Song" and it goes like this.

♪ Days of the week ♪ (fingers clicking) ♪ Days of the week ♪ (fingers clicking) ♪ Days of the week ♪ ♪ Days of the week ♪ ♪ Days of the week ♪ (fingers clicking) ♪ Theres Sunday, and there's Monday, there's Tuesday ♪ ♪ And there's Wednesday, there's Thursday and there' Friday ♪ ♪ And then there's Saturday ♪ And that's the "Days of the Week Song." This time, the last day is missing.

Can you still sing the song? Saturday.

This time, the last two days are missing.

Can you still sing it? Are we ready? ♪ Days of the week ♪ (fingers clicking) ♪ Days of the week ♪ (fingers clicking) ♪ Days of the week ♪ ♪ Days of the week ♪ ♪ Days of the week ♪ (fingers clicking) ♪ There's Sunday and there's Monday ♪ ♪ There's Tuesday and there's Wednesday ♪ ♪ There's Thursday and there's ♪ ♪ And then there's ♪ What do you think? You may wish to keep going with that.

But let's move on.

The days go in a special order and they cannot be jumbled up.

So it goes Sunday.

That's the first day of the week.

Some people like to start their week with Monday, but officially, the first day of the week is Sunday.

And then Monday and then Tuesday.

So they have to go in this order.

Then Wednesday, then Thursday, then Friday, and then Saturday.

Right, let's read those together again.

Are you ready? Let's go.

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

Fantastic.

What I want you to do now is whisper the days of the week to your partner.

Go.

Fantastic.

I could hear you whispering.

Okay.

This time, I want you to shout the days of the week to your partner.

Are you ready? I might need to put my fingers in my ear for this.

Ready? Go.

Ah, that was loud.

Well done though.

That was brilliant.

So yeah, they were the days of the week in order.

Well done.

Andeep and Sofia are playing a game.

Andeep closes his eyes.

And we go look, you see he's got his eyes closed so he can't see this.

You can, I can, Sofia can.

Sofia turns over one of the cards.

She's gonna turn over one of these cards.

Did you see which one she turned over? Andeep opens his eyes.

Here we go.

He has to say what the missing day is.

So we've still got Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, hmm, thursday, Friday, Saturday.

Something is missing.

Which one is it? Let's see if Andeep can get it.

He sings a song to help him.

♪ There's Sunday and there's Monday ♪ ♪ There's Tuesday and there's Wednesday ♪ So the missing day is Wednesday.

"Well done, Andeep," says Sofia.

Okay, let's do a little check.

What's the missing day this time? You might want to sing the song again to remind you, or you might just know it.

Pause the video and off you go.

Well, I can see it's the day that comes after Thursday and the day that comes before Saturday.

I think I might need to sing the song again.

Yes.

I think Andeep was too good at that, don't you? So she's made it harder by turning over two cards this time.

Okay, can you see? She's turned over two cards.

Two days are missing.

The one that's after Sunday and before Tuesday, and the one that's after Friday.

So what could they be? You might want to sing that song to yourself again.

Again Andeep opens his eyes and he sings the song to help him.

♪ There's Sunday and there's Monday ♪ ♪ There's Tuesday and there's Wednesday ♪ ♪ There's Thursday, and there's Friday ♪ ♪ And then there's Saturday ♪ "So the missing days," he says "are Monday and Saturday." "Well done, Andeep," says Sofia.

They play a new game.

Sofia has swapped two of the days around.

Andeep has to put them back in the right order.

So let's have a look at the days then.

So it's going Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

Most of that sounded right.

One part of it sounded wrong.

Did you manage to spot it? Again Andeep sings the song to help him.

He goes.

♪ There's Sunday, and there's Monday ♪ ♪ There's Tuesday ♪ Ah, that's where it goes wrong, look.

♪ There's Sunday and there's Monday ♪ ♪ There's Tuesday and there's Wednesday ♪ ♪ There's Thursday and there's Friday ♪ ♪ And then there's Saturday ♪ That goes in the right order now.

Let's do a check.

Which days are in the wrong order? So at the minute, and this is in the wrong order, remember, it goes Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Thursday, Saturday.

Can you spot the ones in the wrong order? Pause the video and give that a go.

Did you manage to spot the ones in the wrong order? I'm going to sing the song again I think.

Sing along with me.

♪ There's Sunday and there's Monday ♪ ♪ There's Tuesday and there's Wednesday ♪ ♪ There's Thursday and there's Friday ♪ ♪ And then there's Saturday ♪ So it should be Thursday after Wednesday.

So those two days are in the wrong order.

They've been jumbled up.

Let's check it now.

♪ There's Sunday and there's Monday ♪ ♪ There's Tuesday and there's Wednesday ♪ ♪ There's Thursday and there's Friday ♪ ♪ And then there's Saturday.

♪ All of that was perfect.

Well done.

Right, time for some practise.

You've got some days of the week cards.

They're all jumbled up.

You're going to work with a partner.

So starting with Sunday, the first day of the week, put the cards in the order of the days of the week.

And then just like in the game that Andeep and Sofia played, your partner will close their eyes.

Turn over one of the cards.

Can your partner spot the missing day? And then swap.

Keep taking it in turns and then play again.

This time, turn over two cards.

And then if your partner's really good at that and you're really good at that, maybe turn over three cards and keep going like that.

Okay, and then for D, swap two of the cards over.

Can your partner put them back in the right order? Now, in the examples we saw, the days that were in the wrong order were next to each other, but they don't have to be.

They can be any two days that have been swapped over.

Okay, have fun with that.

Good luck.

See you soon.

Welcome back.

How did you get on? Did you have fun there? Do you think you now know the days of the week and the order that the days of the week go in? Well, let's have a look.

Did your partner guess correctly? Did you guess correctly? If you became stuck, you may have used a picture of the cards in order to remind you of the correct order, or you might have sung the song.

But it goes Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

That is the right order.

Okay, let's use the days of the week to describe events.

Are you ready? Let's go.

Here's a story all about a panda called Pedro and an adventure that he has across a week.

You may or you may not have heard a story involving Pedro before.

This is a slightly different version if you have.

This time, it takes place across one week.

Let's begin.

One Sunday morning in the mountains, Pedro the panda felt hungry.

He yearned to eat something other than bamboo.

As the sun rose in the sky, he decided to go on an adventure to find something new to eat.

He climbed down the mountain.

He swam across the river.

He came across a jungle full of food he hadn't seen before.

There he found and ate one huge watermelon.

So remember, it's Sunday, the first day of the week and he's eaten one watermelon, but it didn't taste as good as the bamboo.

So on he goes.

On Monday, so that's the second day of the week, he ate two juicy apples, but they didn't taste as good as bamboo.

So Monday is the second day of the week and he's eaten two apples.

But on he goes with his quest.

On Tuesday, the third day of the week, he ate three prickly pineapples, but they didn't taste as good as bamboo.

So on Tuesday, the third day of the week, he ate three pineapples.

On Wednesday, the fourth day of the week, he ate four ripe bananas.

But guess what, they didn't taste as good as bamboo.

So Wednesday is the fourth day of the week, and he ate four bananas.

On Thursday, the fifth day of the week, he ate five red tomatoes, but they still didn't taste as good as bamboo.

Aw.

So Thursday is the fifth day of the week, and that's the day he ate five red tomatoes.

On Friday, the sixth day of the week, he ate six bunches of grapes.

Looks delicious, but they didn't taste as good as bamboo either.

Oh dear.

So Friday, the sixth day of the week, he ate six bunches of grapes.

And on Saturday, he ate seven ripe oranges.

But once again, they didn't taste as good as the bamboo.

So Saturday, the seventh day of the week, he ate seven ripe oranges.

That evening, he was still feeling rather hungry and missed his family in the mountains.

As the sun began to set, he decided to go home.

He swam back across the river.

He climbed back up the mountain.

Pedro was finally home.

That evening, Pedro ate some bamboo.

He ate and he ate and he ate until it was morning again.

Pedro had eaten bamboo all night.

With a very full tummy, Pedro decided that bamboo was his favourite food after all.

And that's a story of Pedro the Panda.

So different events happen each day in Pedro's week.

Let's have a look at those events.

So this was Sunday.

Can you remember Sunday? That was his first day.

The first day of the week too.

On Sunday, Pedro woke up feeling hungry, so went on an adventure looking for food, and he ate a watermelon.

On Monday, Pedro ate two apples.

Can you remember what day comes next? We've gone Sunday, Monday.

What's next? That's right, Tuesday.

So on Tuesday, Pedro ate three pineapples.

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday.

What's next? Wednesday.

What happened on Wednesday? A little clue there in the picture.

Can you see? On Wednesday, Pedro ate four bananas.

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.

What's next? Thursday.

On Thursday, Pedro ate five tomatoes.

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.

What's next? Friday.

On Friday, Pedro ate six bunches of grapes.

Nearly there.

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.

What's next? Saturday.

That's the day after Friday.

And on Saturday, Pedro ate seven oranges.

Let's have a check.

Spot the mistake in Pedro's week and describe the events of his week.

So there's a little mistake here.

It goes, at the moment, it goes Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Wednesday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday.

They're not in the right order.

So can you put them into the right order and then have a go at describing the things that happen to Pedro in the week? Pause the video.

If you've got a partner, work with a partner.

Good luck.

Welcome back.

Did you manage to put them in the right order, first of all? So the ones that are in the wrong order are these two days.

Thursday and Tuesday got mixed up.

And in the right order, it goes like this.

So now it goes Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and that is the right order.

And you might have said something like on Sunday, Pedro woke up feeling hungry so he went on an adventure looking for food.

He ate a watermelon.

On Monday, Pedro ate two apples.

On Tuesday, Pedro ate three pineapples.

On Wednesday, Pedro ate four bananas.

On Thursday, Pedro ate five tomatoes.

On Friday, Pedro ate six bunches of grapes.

And on Saturday, Pedro ate seven oranges.

You might have used some of your own words in there, but that's what happened to Pedro.

That was his story.

That was his week.

So the final task then.

Use the days of the week cards that you've got in front of you and Pedro's story cards to tell a story.

Do not worry if you cannot remember what happened on each day because this is your story.

So it doesn't have to be exactly the same.

This is your story, but the most important thing is to make sure that the days are in the right order.

So have fun with that.

Pause the video.

Welcome back.

Let's hope you got those days in the right order.

That's the most important thing.

And then I wonder if you managed to tell a story based on that.

So the order of the days goes Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

And an example of a sentence.

So for the Tuesday one, for example, you might have said on Tuesday, Pedro ate two watermelons.

We've come to the end of the lesson and I've had really good fun today.

Our lesson today has been using language relating to days of the week.

So the days of the week have an order, a special order that they go in and it goes Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

Shall we sing that song one last time? Ready? ♪ There's Sunday and there's Monday ♪ ♪ There's Tuesday and there's Wednesday ♪ ♪ There's Thursday, and there's Friday ♪ ♪ And then there's Saturday ♪ Some people consider Monday to be the start of the week.

Either way, there are still seven days in a week.

Days can be described according to the events that happen on them.

You've been brilliant today, you've been amazing.

I really hope we get the opportunity to work together on another maths lesson.

But until then, take care.

Enjoy the rest of your day and goodbye.
