In this unit pupils will apply memorised unit conversions to convert between units of measure, solve problems involving converting between units of time and money. In the future unit pupils will explain how one hundred thousand can be composed and read and write numbers up to one million 

In the prior unit pupils explained the effect of multiplying and dividing a number by 10, 100 and 1,000 and used their knowledge of multiplying decimal fractions by whole numbers to solve measures problems. In this unit pupils will apply memorised unit conversions to convert between units of measure  and solve problems involving converting between units of time and money.

Laura and Andeep are competing against each other to beat a tricky level on Space Blasters. Laura clears it in exactly two hours and Andeep takes 115 minutes. Which of these statements is correct?

Andeep lives 10 miles away from a theme park. Laura lives 20 km away from the theme park. How much further away does Laura live? {{ }} km (5 miles is approximately 8 km) 

Laura’s mum has a 2 gallon petrol can which is full. She accidentally knocks it over. 7 litres spill out of it. How much petrol is left in the can? {{  }} l (1 gallon is approximately 4.5 l)
