When he sings to you, you're going to sing your name back to him.

I'll go first to show you how it's done.

Now we're ready to do some learning.

Today we are going to learn to use our voice in different ways, to identify loud and soft sounds from around the home, to identify sounds by listening and to follow musical instructions.

In this lesson, you will need your body.

Give us a wave! Your voice, say hello, a piece of paper and a pencil.

Sometimes in music there are really loud sounds like this or like this and sometimes in music that are really soft quiet sounds like this or like this Could you try making a really loud sound? and a really soft sound? We can sing our songs loud or quietly.

It's up to us really, but in music there are some terms that tell us, whether the music is meant to be loud or quiet.

Sometimes it even starts really quietly and gets much louder or starts really loud and get as much quieter.

We're going to be learning all about these terms today.

Why don't you have a go at trying out some of the songs we know in a soft quiet voice and a loud voice.

See what you prefer.

Make a list like this of all the loud sound you can hear in your house and all the soft sound you can hear in your house.

An example of a loud sound might be, if you hear fireworks in the garden, an example of a soft sound might be if you tiptoe across your living room.

How many loud and soft sounds can you find? Pause the video to list all of the loud and soft sounds you can hear in your house or garden now.

Match the sounds to their dynamics, that means how loud or quiet they are.

That's right.

Bird's tweeting is a soft sound and sudden footsteps is a loud sound.

What about a tiger and a mouse? That's right.

A mouse is a soft sound, but a tiger makes a loud sound.

In music we have different terms to tell us how loud or quietly to play or sing.

The word "forte" means loud.

Can you say forte? Good.

Forte is kind of like 40, but with an A-sound at the end - forte.

Great.

So forte is shown in the music by an "f", that's tipped its head to the side a bit like this.

We call it Italics.

So the F instead of being straight is off to the side.

Could you try draw it in the air with your finger an F that goes off to the side? Great.

Well done.

Maybe you can try drawing it on some paper in a minute, too.

Now, also in music, we have a word for soft or quiet and that word is spelled just like the word "piano" but it's actually pronounced "piano".

Can you say piano? Piano Piano means soft or quiet.

And just like the "F" it's slanted off to the side like this but instead of an "F" it's a "P" for "piano".

So we know that "forte" means loud and "piano" means soft.

We're going to do some singing using these terms. We're going to be singing forte and piano.

Make sure you remember which one's which, good job.

"Dynamics" mean how loud or soft the music is sung or played We're going to add some dynamics to this piece now.

We're going to start off nice and quietly, in the middle we're going to go forte, could you remember what that means? Well done.

It means "loud".

And then we're going to come back down to piano at the end.

I'll do it first and you can watch and then it will be your turn.
