Hello, my name is Mr. Crawn, and I am really excited that we're going to be learning together today.
In this lesson, we will be singing, chanting, and playing games.
And you are all going to have a fabulous time.
Today's lesson is called Singing Echo Songs, and during this lesson we will be learning what's the difference between an echo song and a call and response song.
We'll be singing and we'll be playing games, and by the end of the lesson, you will know how to sing an echo, and what an echo is.
Here's some of the keywords we'll use for today's lesson.

We know how important it is to warm up our voice and our body so that we're ready to sing.
We need to make sure all of our muscles, even these tiny ones in our throat, are all warmed up and ready so that we can sing safely.
It keeps our voices strong and healthy.

And "Kye Kye Kule" is an echo song, because we copy the leader exactly each time they've sung.
Wait, we know other echo songs in chants too.
Let's try this one.
♪ I said boom chicka boom ♪ Brilliant.
And what if I sang this? ♪ Hey hey, look at me ♪ ♪ I am marching ♪ ♪ Can't you see ♪ Well done, absolutely great.
And time for one more I think.
This is "Doctor Knickerbocker," ready to copy? ♪ Now I've got the rhythm in my hands ♪ (clapping) Super, that is great, well done.
Okay, let's have a recap.
An echo is when we sing or chant something similar to the leader or an echo is when we sing or chant something different to the leader.
Or an echo is when we sing or chant an exact copy of a musical phrase.
Which one do you think it is? A, B, or C? That's right, it is C.
Well done, when we sing or chant an exact copy of a musical phrase, that's an echo.
"A Keelie Makolay" is not an echo song because we asked the question, "A Keelie Makolay, mo paco meeno sway?" "Makolay, are you coming out to play?" And then we answer that question with, "Yeah, yeah, mo paco meeno sway." "I do want to come out and play," so it's not an echo, because we're singing something different.
True or false? "Kye Kye Kule" is an echo song.
Is that true or is that false? Well done, it's true.
And that's because the leader sings and everybody copies.
Because we copy exactly what the leader's sung, we're singing an echo.
How about this one? True or false? "A Keelie Makolay" is an echo song.
Is that true or is that false? You are right, it's false.
And that's because the leader sings the question and everybody else sings something different, they're singing the answer.
So we don't copy exactly what the leader sings, and so it's not an echo.
Let's learn another song.
This is an echo song called "Down by the Bay." In this echo song, the children will echo what the leader has sung.
So we'll have a watch.
And what I'd like you to do when the video comes on is each time you think you can hear the echo, put your hand to your ear.

We know that we can use our voices not only to talk, but to chant and sing together too.
And we can sing on our own or as part of a group.

And we also know that an echo is an exact copy of a musical phrase or a sound, and that we can enjoy creating our own echoes together.
Until next time, bye!.
