Hi everybody.

My name is Mr. Polyca and welcome back to our next lesson in music.

In today's lesson we are going to be exploring music with three beats in a bar.

Now, in our lesson, we're going to learn how we're going to recap our songs crazy glue and our game, our cup game.

We are going to explore some music which has three beats in every bar.

We're going to clap to the pulse and clap to the music with three beats in a bar.

And we are going to learn a brand new piece, which has three beats in a bar.

Once again, for our lesson you will need some headphones.

If you don't have any headphones like always just make sure that you have somewhere that you can concentrate and you won't be disturbed.

You will need a pencil and some paper, if you have some and if you would like to make some notes.

You will need your hands as always.

And finally, you will need a plastic cup or beaker.

I've got mine, mine is made of a plastic here.

And if you can have a plastic one, or as we made it out of cardboard, it works really really well.

Just make sure you don't have anything that might break like glass.

And if you're unsure, just make sure that you ask a parent or carer.

"Crazy Glue." As you remember from last lesson, crazy glue has four beats in a bar and it sounds like this: ♪ One, two ♪ ♪ One, two, three, four ♪ ♪ I never knew ♪ ♪ That you, are, crazy glue, my darling ♪ ♪ And I'm stuck to you ♪ ♪ I am cosy and I don't want to wiggle loose ♪ ♪ I never knew ♪ ♪ That you, are, crazy glue, my darling ♪ ♪ And I'm stuck to you ♪ ♪ I am cosy and I don't want to wiggle loose.

♪ Let's see if we can try it together.

It has four beats in a bar.

Pause the video now, so that you can practise singing crazy glue and tapping the pulse all the way through.

Don't forget to count out loud before you start.

A one, two, three, four before you start to sing.

If you would like to rewind 20 seconds, we can sing it together and practise it one more time.

When you're ready to continue, click play.

A quick pop quiz for you.

Just to recap some of the information that we have learned over the last few lessons.

Let's take a look at those questions.

Question one.

What does eight time signature tell us? Is it the volume? Is it the bar lines? Is it how many beats there are in a bar? Was it the speed? Five, four, three, two, one.

It is, how many beats there are in a bar.

So a time signature tells us how many beats there are in every bar.

Second question.

What do we use to separate the bars? What do we use to separate the bars? Is it triangles? Is it bar lines? Is it heartbeats? Is it arrows? Have a think.

Five, four, three, two, one.

Hopefully you're screaming at your screen that of course, the way that we separate bars is with this lines, those bar lines, Very well done.

The "Cup Game." 2 beats in a bar.

You'll remember from last lesson that our cup game has two beats in every single bar.

That's: ♪ One two ♪ ♪ One two ♪ ♪ One two ♪ ♪ One two ♪ Remember that one, the first beat of every bar is called our downbeat.

And our downbeat is our strongest beat.

Try it with me, one, two, off we go.

♪ One, two ♪ ♪ One, two ♪ ♪ One, two ♪ ♪ One, two.

♪ Keep it going.

Let's see if we can say the words, for our cup game.

On our screen, we have our four beats, but actually if we're going to have three beats, we need to make sure that there are only three heartbeats.

Let's get rid of one.

Let's see how it looks.

Lovely, okay.

As you can see, we've got our box, which is actually our bar and we have three beats now for that bar.

Let's put small bars in place.

Here we go, so we've got each of those bars having three beats.

And remember, that that shortcut, that a way of saying that there are three beats in every bar, is by having that circle with the number three at the very beginning.

That number tells us that there're the same amount of beats in every single bone.

We are missing some music though.

So let's see if we can clap, click, click to the pulse.

So our downbeat, our very first beat, I'm going to clap.

Remember it's got to be quite hard 'cause that's our strongest beat.
