Hi everybody, my name is Mr. Palekar, and welcome back to music.
We are going into our fifth lesson today, and today we are going to be looking at music with six beats in a bar.
In today's lesson, we are going to be looking at recapping "Found a Peanut" song, which has three beats in a bar.
We are going to be learning a new song that has three beats in a bar.
We are going to be exploring music which has six beats in a bar.
And we are going to learn a brand new piece, which has six beats and a bar.
Now for this lesson, you will need some headphones if you have some.
If you don't, don't worry.
Just make sure that you are somewhere where you can concentrate, that you can hear this video really clearly, and that you can not be disturbed by anyone else.
You'll also need a pencil and paper if you would like to take some notes.
And finally you will need your hands, your voices, and yourselves.
Let's get started.
"Found a Peanut", three beats in a bar.

And I know that you will remember from last few lessons that the short way of writing it is making sure that we have the number three or the number of beats in a bar at the very beginning of our music in our circle.
Well done.
Pause the video now so that you can practise "Found a Peanut" with a friend or family member and tap the pulse all the way through.
Remember that you need to clap a little bit harder for the first beat of every bar which is also called the downbeat.

Here we go, question number one.
What does a time signature tell us? Does a time signature tell us the volume, the bar lines, how many beads there are in a bar, or the speed? Five, four, three, two, one.
The time signature tells us how many beats they are in every bar.
It is found at the beginning of the music and is found as a number.
Question number two, what do we use to separate bars? Now we know that bars is how we organise music into boxes, but what do we use to separate bars? Is it triangles? Is it bar lines? Is it heartbeats? Or is it arrows? Five, four, three, two, one.
It is of course bar lines, the lines in between bars which just separate out the bars.
Here we go, question number three.
How many beats in a bar does the song ♪ Found a peanut, found a peanut ♪ ♪ Found a peanut ♪ have, how many beats in a bar? Does it have two? Does it have three? Does it have four? Or does it have six? Five, four, three, two, one.
It of course it has three beats in a bar.
♪ Found a peanut, found a ♪ One two three, one two three, one two three.
Question number four.
How many beats in a bar does the song "Crazy Glue" have? It's been a little while since we've done the song "Crazy Glue".
♪ You are crazy glue, darling ♪ How many beats in a bar does that song have? Is it two, three, four, or six? Five, four, three, two, one.
If you said four, you would be absolutely right.
Crazy glue has four beats in every bar.
Last question.
How many beats in a bar are we exploring today in this lesson? Can you remember the title? Is it two, three, four, or six? How many beats are we going to be exploring today? Five, four, three, two, one.
It is six beats in a bar.
So let's get to it.
Time signatures, six beats in a bar.
When we have six beats in a bar, we need to make sure that it doesn't look like four beats in the bar, three beats in the bar, it needs to make sure that it looks like we have six beats in a bar.
So we're going to have six heartbeats at the top there.
We can sometimes group these into three, so we can say one two three four five six.
Let me show you what I mean.
Here is two bars of music.
Let's count the beat, ready.
Ready and off we go.
One two three four five six, one two three four five six, one two three four five six, one two three four five six.
Let's add in that downbeat, that very first beat.
It's a very, very strongest beat.
We're going to clap on that downbeat, ready.
Ready and off we go one two three four five six one two three four five six one two three four five six one two three four five six Well done.
Let's add in those weaker beats on our chest.
one two three four five six.
Ready, and off we go.
one two three four five six one two three four five six one two three four five six one two three four five six Well done.
Now you might see a little star, which is by beat number four.
That's because we can give it number four, a little bit more of a push, a little bit of a stronger or harder clap or snap.
That little star, that asterisk is a snap.
It's not as strong as our downbeat, but it is stronger than the other beats.
So it'll sound like this.
One two three four five six, one two three four five six.
Let's try it four times, hands at the ready.
One two three, off we go.
one two three four five six one two three four five six one two three four five six one two three four five six Great, and that's how we count six beats in a bar.
Wait, one second.
We're missing some music, so let's add some.
We're about to hear some music, and we are going to clap on the downbeat one And we're going to pat on the weaker beats, two three and five and six, And we're going to click on that slightly stronger beat than the other ones, but not as strong as our downbeat.
So one two three four five six.
As soon as you hear the pulse, see if you can find that strongest beat, and then start to clap, click, pat, and count out loud.
Here we go.
♪ I've heard there was a secret chord ♪ ♪ That David played ♪ ♪ and it pleased the lord ♪ one two three four five six ♪ But you don't ♪ one two three ♪ Really care ♪ four five six ♪ For music ♪ one two three four five six ♪ Do you? ♪ one two three four five six one two three four five six ♪ And it goes like this ♪ one two three four five six ♪ The fourth, the fifth ♪ one two three four five six ♪ The minor fall ♪ one two three four five six ♪ And the major lift ♪ one two three four five six ♪ The baffled King ♪ one two three four five six ♪ Composing ♪ one two three four five six ♪ Hallelujah ♪ one two three four five six one two three ♪ Hallelujah ♪ four five six Good, that was quite quick as a tempo, as a speed.

Bit tricky because there's lots going on.
We can say one two three four five six, one two three four five six, one two three four five six, one two three four five six.
So if that's easier, easier for you, do that and count out the weaker beats one, two, three, four, five, six.
If you can, pat the weaker beans, the do that.
