We will be learning about the Holy Trinity and its importance for Christians.

This is what our lesson is going to look like today.

You will need a piece of paper, a pen, and your brain, as you will be doing a lot of new learning today.

On the screen, you can see the star words for today's lesson.

I will be explaining these star words in more detail throughout the lesson.

First of all, we're going to do my turn, then your turn.

Christianity.

The Holy Trinity.

Father.

Son.

Holy Spirit.

Nicene Creed.

I know the last word is little bit tricky.

So really well done for endeavouring to say it.

Christians believe that there is only one God.

How many gods do they believe in? Say it out loud.

Ah, yes.

They only believe in one God.

This God is all powerful and they have complete power.

This God is also all knowing and knows everything.

And the God is all loving and fair to everyone.

This is the same God written about in the Old Testament, which is a section of the Bible.

Christians believe that there is only one God.

Now I'm going to use the example of water to explain the concept of the Holy Trinity to you.

Water can be wet as a liquid.

Water can also be a solid.

And when it is a solid, it is ice.

Water can turn into gas when it is heated and when it becomes hot.

Looking at all of these images, you can see that each one is different.

Water can be a liquid, it can be ice, or it can be steam.

However, all the different forms are still water.

Ice for example is a solid, but it's still made up from water.

The Holy Trinity is a very important idea in Christianity.

Christians believe that God has three forms or persons.

These three persons or forms of God is known as the Holy Trinity.

Trinity means three.

Say it after me, Trinity means three.

Good job.

One of the persons of God is the Father.

You can see it in the image.

The second person is the Son.

The third person is the Holy Spirit, right at the bottom.

Now all these three persons are God, but they are not the same.

Just like ice is not the same as liquid.

The Father is not the Son.

The Son is not the Holy Spirit.

They are different, but they all have the same nature and the same essence, God.

I would now like you to pause the video and cite whether these statements are true or false.

Let's read them together.

Christians believe there are three gods.

Is that true or is it false? Number two, Trinity means three.

True or False? Finally, there are three persons, or forms, of God, Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Now question one was a little bit tricky.

So just to recap, Christians only believe in one God, but they believe that God has three forms or persons.

The idea of the Holy Trinity was written down in a special meeting of church leaders in the year 325 CE.

And this became known as the Nicene Creed.

The meeting happened in a place called Nicaea.

Here is the shortened version of the creed that tells us about what Christians believe.

Let's read what it says together.

Are you ready to read with me? We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, by the power of the Holy Spirit, he became incarnate.

For our sake, he was crucified under Pontius Pilate.

He suffered death and was buried.

On the third day, he rose again.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life.

He has spoken through the prophets.

We look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.

Amen.

The creed gives us a lot of clues about what Christians believe.

For example, it tells me that Christians only believe in one God.

You can see this in bold on the very first line.

I am now going to share some of the things that you might have written down.

So from the Nicene Creed, you might have noticed that it told us that Christians only believe in one God.

That God is the Father and the creator of all things.

Jesus suffered and died for all of humankind.

Jesus rose from the dead.

The Holy Spirit is the giver of life.

You might have had more answers or just a few less, but really well done for endeavouring to really zoom in and understand the Nicene Creed.
