Hello everybody.

My name is Miss Dhillon.

What's your name? Oh, it's so nice to meet you.

And now you must be wondering some things about me.

Something I like doing with my free time is exercising and I've been doing quite a lot of it recently.

Our new unit is all about the religion, Christianity.

In this lesson, we will be learning about the life, teachings and death of Jesus.

The key question for today's lesson is, who was Jesus? This is what the structure of our lesson today is going to look like.

In this lesson, you will need an exercise book or paper and a pencil.

Oh, and of course, how could I forget? You will also need your brains, because we are going to be doing a lot of thinking.

So let's switch our brains on.

Are you ready? In one, two and three.

Okay, so now we're ready to go.

On the screen you can see the star words for today's lesson.

I will be explaining these star words in more detail throughout the lesson.

For now we're going to do, my turn and then your turn.

Christianity, Middle East, nativity, Jesus, parables, resurrection, crucifixion.

Good job.

Christianity, is a religion that began in the Middle East 2000 years ago.

Do you know where the Middle East is? Point, if you know where it is.

Wow, you really have a great knowledge of the world map.

Here is where the Middle East is.

This map shows a closeup of the Middle East, where the religion began.

Christians believe that Jesus is the son of God and died to save all of humankind.

Jesus' followers wrote down what Jesus had taught in the New Testament.

The second part of the bible, which is the religion's text for Christians.

Pause the video now to complete the task on the screen.

Here are the answers.

How did you do? Did you get the correct answer? Well done.

Jesus was born in Bethlehem, which is near to Jerusalem.

Have a look at the map.

Can you point to Bethlehem? Good job.

The story of Jesus' birth is known as The Nativity.

My turn, your turn.

Nativity.

This is where Mary was told by the angel Gabriel, that she would have a baby and that he would be the son of God.

Mary travelled to Bethlehem and gave birth to Jesus in a stable, because there was no room at any of the inns that night.

Have a look at the second image.

Here you can see the shepherds and wise men who came to visit Jesus when he was born.

They brought Jesus lots of gifts.

Pause the video now to complete the task on the screen.

How did you do? Good job.

Give me a high five.

When Jesus grew up, he was baptised by John the Baptist.

A baptism is performed by sprinkling or pouring water on the head or by immersing in the water.

The picture you can see show stained glass where Jesus is being baptised.

Pause the video now to complete the task on the screen.

The answer is John the Baptist.

Well done for remembering.

Who likes stories? Put your hand up if you do.

I bet you all like stories.

Stories are great.

They stick with us and we can learn a lot from our stories.

Jesus told very special stories called parables.

My turn, your turn, parables.

These taught people how they should live.

Jesus' main message was to treat others how you would like to be treated and to be a good Samaritan, which means a very helpful person.

It was a message of love and kindness.

Pause the video now to complete the task on the screen.

Now I know you're working really hard on these questions.

So keep up the good work.

The bible also says that Jesus performed miracles.

For Christians, these miracles are signs that Jesus must've been God.

I'm going to share with you some of the miracles that Jesus performed.

Jesus turned water into wine.

He walked on water.

He healed the sick.

And he cured the blind.

Now these are just some examples of the miracles that Jesus performed.

Pause the video now and complete the task on the screen.

Did you get two of the miracles? Or maybe you got all four examples on the screen.

In that case, double thumbs up.

Jesus preached for three years, and became very, very popular.

Lots of people came to hear what he was teaching.

Now, the Romans who were charged in charge of the area at the time, they got very worried that Jesus would lead a rebellion and take control.

The Roman leaders decided that they needed to kill Jesus, to stop him becoming too powerful.

The Bible tells a story of how Jesus already knew that he was going to die.

He held a last supper for his 12 disciples and gave them some bread and wine.

Later that night, Roman soldiers came to where Jesus was staying.

One of Jesus' followers, Judas, betrayed him with a kiss to identify Jesus to the whole crowd.

The Romans took Jesus away, beat him, and then nailed him to a wooden cross until he died.

This is known as crucifixion.

My turn, your turn.

Crucifixion.

Jesus' body was taken to a tomb on Friday.

Three days later, when some woman went down, Jesus was gone.

The Bible teaches that he had been resurrected.

My turn, your turn, resurrected.

This means that he had risen from the dead.

This very important to Christians, because it shows that Jesus conquered death and that if we believe in him, then we can also have ever lasting life as well.

We are now going to summarise Jesus' life into an eight part story map.

Number one, this is when Jesus was born.

Number two, this is when Jesus was baptised.

Number three are the stories that Jesus shared or parables.

Number four shows the miracles that Jesus performed.

Number five is the last supper, Jesus had with his disciples.

Number six is the betrayal by Judas.

Number seven is when Jesus is crucified on a cross.

And finally, number eight is the resurrection, when Jesus rises from the dead.

I would now like you to pause the video, and draw the table below to represent the key moments in Jesus' life.

You might want to rewind to the previous slide, if you want to see the pictures again.

Pause the video now.

Now that your story map is complete, you might want to use the story map to retell the story of Jesus' life to someone at home.

Let me share my story map with you.

Following with me.

Number one, angel Gabriel told Mary that she would have a baby and that he would be called the son of God.

Mary travelled all the way to Bethlehem and gave birth to Jesus in a stable where shepherds and wise men came to visit Jesus and bring him gifts.

This birth story of Jesus is called The Nativity.

Following with me onto number two.

Jesus is then later baptised by John the Baptist.

Number three, Jesus taught people how to live through stories called parables.

His main message was of love and of kindness.

Number four, The Bible also says that Jesus performed miracles.

For Christians, these miracles are signs that Jesus was God.

One miracle that Jesus performed was to heal the sick.

Number five.

The Roman leaders decided to kill Jesus.

So Jesus held a last supper for his 12 disciples, where he gave them bread and wine.

Number six, one of Jesus' followers, Judas, betrayed him with a kiss.

The Romans took Jesus away and beat him.

Number seven, the Romans nailed Jesus to a wooden cross until he died.

This is known as crucifixion.

Finally number eight, Jesus' body was taken to a tomb on Friday.

Three days later, when some woman went down to the tomb, she realised that Jesus was gone.

The Bible teaches that he had risen or he had been resurrected.

Okay team, now it's your turn to share your story map, and tell the story of Jesus' life to someone around you at home.

The final question I would like you to answer today, encourages you to think about your own opinion.

There is no right or wrong answer.

Jesus thought that you should treat other people how you would like to be treated.

Do you agree or do you disagree? Now you might want to use some real life examples.

For instance, I agree that you should treat other people like you want to be treated, because if I speak kindly to my friends, they are more likely to speak nicely to me.

Pause the video now, and have a go at this task.

Now that's the end of the lesson, and it's time for you to now complete the end of lesson quiz.

You should be really, really proud of all the work that you have done today, and of your story maps that you've created.

I am so impressed with your first lesson.

Enjoy the rest of your day, and I can't wait to see you again in lesson two, where we will be learning all about the Holy Trinity.
