Hello, this is your RHE lesson, Health Hero with me Mrs. Wade.
First of all, let's get physical, then take a break, next, healthy eating, after that, dental health, and finally, you'll create your own video.
What does physical activity mean? Hmm, that's right.
It means when you move your body.
Can you move your body for me? Give your hands a shake, give your head a shake.
Excellent.
Now, why do you think physical activity is so important? Have a think.
That's right.
It keeps your body strong.
Can you show me those muscles? So it keeps your body strong.
It helps you to fight diseases.
Can you fight them off? Fight those diseases.
Well done.
And it keeps your heart and your lungs strong.
I want you to take in the biggest breath you can and then try and blow me away.
Are you ready? In three nose, after three, one, two, three.
Very good.
Well done.
Let's do those actions again so they really stick in your head.
So why is physical activity important? It keeps your body strong, it helps you fight diseases, and it helps keep your heart and lungs strong.
Excellent job.
Well done.
I hope you remember them.
What physical activity do you do? Have a think.
It might be games that you play outside.
That's physical activity.
Maybe you go out to some clubs.
Like swimming or boxing or dancing or gymnastics.
I can't do an action for gymnastics.
I can't really do a back flip or a front flip.
Have a think, what do you do? And I want you to tell me in a minute.
Ready, one, two, three, what do you do? Oh, that's loads of activities.
I like to go to the gym, pump some iron, make my big muscles nice and strong.
What does rest mean? That's right.
It means when you stop moving, you relax, you sleep, or you recover.
Can you show me what you look like when you're feeling relaxed? Oh yeah.
I'll show you what I look like.
And so I relax all my muscles.
I let my head slop and I like to close my eyes.
It doesn't mean I'm asleep.
And that's what I look like when I'm nice and relaxed though.
Why do you think rest is so important? That's right.
It helps your muscles and bones to recover from exercise.
Show me those big muscles again.
Oh, your muscles are huge.
You must lead loads of rest, 'cause they're so big.
It helps your mood and how you feel about yourself.
Can you show me your biggest smile? Cheesy grin, show me those teeth.
Oh, beautiful.
You look so beautiful when you smile and it helps your learning memory.
Can you point to your brain? Very good.
So that's three things.
It helps muscles and bones to recover, it helps your mood, and it helps your learning memory.
Can we do those actions again? So you've got to do them with me.
Okay.
So rest is so important because it helps your muscles and bones to recover, it helps your mood and how you feel about yourself, big smile, and it helps your learning memory.
Keep practising those and make sure you can remember why rest is so important.
What can you do to rest? Good idea.
Maybe you listen to some music.
Maybe you have a lie down.
Maybe you just like to close your eyes, or even go to bed, have a sleep, have a nice nap and get a big fluffy blanket.
They're all great ways to rest your body.
So exercising is very important, but resting your body is important too.
Well done.
What does healthy eating mean? That's right.
It means when you eat a variety of foods and it's balanced, isn't it? What's one of your favourite healthy foods? Mine is a banana.
I love bananas.
I think I'm a little bit of a monkey really.
Why do you think eating healthy is so important then? That's right.
It gives you those strong bones and teeth.
Can you show me your teeth? Show me.
Oh, beautiful.
It gives you a strong heart.
Can you make a heart with your hands? Good job.
And again, it gives you a better mood.
Show me those big smiles again.
Oh, lovely.
Right.
Let's do them again so we remember.
So this is why healthy eating is important.
So the first one is strong bones and teeth.
A strong heart, and a better mood.
Show me those big smiles.
Excellent job.
Well done.
Remember, healthy eating means eating a variety of things.
So this is what I might eat in one day.
Some cereal, I love having poached eggs on some brown bread, salmon, another one of my favourites, with some potatoes and vegetables, and then I might have a little chocolatey treat later on.
But if I get hungry in the day, I don't grab the unhealthy snacks.
I have some fruit.
So an apple, and my favourite, what was my favourite fruit that I just told you, what was it? A banana, well done.
And then if I need a drink, I'll have maybe one or two cups of coffee, but then I love lemon and lime juice.
So that's what I would eat in one day.
What would you eat in one day? Do you have a lot of chocolate or a lot of crisps? Do you need to rethink your healthy diet or are you super duper healthy? And you only have a little chocolatey treat or a packet of crisps some of the time? What does dental health mean? Dental, hmm, sounds a little bit like dentist.
So dental health.
That's right.
It means having healthy teeth.
And it doesn't just include your teeth, it includes your gums, which are the pink bit around your teeth, and your mouth.
How do you keep your mouth healthy? Ah, yeah, brushing your teeth.
That's a really good one.
Well done.
Why do you think dental health is so important? Yeah, it stops your teeth falling out.
So the first one, it stops tooth decay so that you don't lose your teeth.
Can you put you lips over your teeth so that it looks like you haven't got any? Oh no.
That's what might happen if you don't look after them.
And it helps prevent sensitivity.
Ooh, something's sensitive.
That means that if you look after your teeth, you can eat some ice cream, or a cold drink without going like this.
Like that, okay? And it gives you fresh breath.
So it smells minty freshness.
Excellent.
Right.
Can you help me do those actions again then? They're a little bit silly these ones, aren't they? Okay.
So why is dental health so important? It stops tooth decay.
So you don't lose your teeth.
Very good.
Okay, and it helps prevent sensitive teeth.
Can you do that.
So that you can eat ice cream , and you can drink a cold drink.
Good job.
And the last reason is it gives you fresh breath.
Great job.
Well done.
Can you remind me of what you do to keep a healthy mouth? What's the first thing that you do? Yeah, you brush your teeth.
What's another thing that you can put into your mouth and it helps to keep them healthy as well? What's that? That you pour into like a, maybe a little cup.
Sometimes it's blue, sometimes it's green, sometimes it's pink, sometimes it purple, sometimes it's clear, and you go like, like that.
That was my impression.
What do you think it is I'm doing? Yes, it's mouthwash.
Now there's another thing, okay, I'll do another impression.
Are you ready? So you pull it out like this, you break it off, you get it and you go.
Do you know what that is? Floss.
Well done.
So it gets in all the in between bits in your teeth and gets all the bits out.
Do you know another thing that you can do to help your teeth? Now I'll give you a clue.
It's when you're actually eating.
And when you're drinking as well.
Do you know it? That's right, less sugar.
So less sugar in your diet, drinking less sugary drinks and more water will definitely give you that healthy mouth.
So you need to remember all those things so that you don't end up like this.
You don't want to end up like this.
Okay, so the task I would like you to do is to make a video or a performance to a parent, carer, or sibling about one of the things that you've learned today.
So it might be how to get some rest.
It might be how to brush your teeth.
It might be how to do some physical exercise.
So the first thing you need to do is orally rehearse saying your instructions.
The next thing you need to do is perform or make a video.
So I've decided to do brushing teeth.
So I need to practise saying my instructions.
So I'm going to say, "First, get your toothbrush and wet it under the tap.
Next, put a small amount of toothpaste onto your toothbrush.
Then wet your toothbrush again.
After that, put your toothbrush into your mouth, onto your teeth, and gently move it around your mouth with circular motions." I'm going to say that I think.
And then I would put a little reminder in.
"Remember, brush your teeth for two minutes.
Put a timer on if it helps." And then I'm going to say, "Spit out your toothpaste.
Finally, rinse your mouth with some water like this." Like that.
That's going to be my impression I think.
"Finally, rinse your toothbrush and put it back." And I'm going to just do that.
I'm not going to include the mouthwash and the floss.
I'm just going to do the brushing your teeth.
So that's what I'm going to say.
So pause the video and practise what you're going to say now.
How to brush your teeth.
First, turn on the tap and give it a good rinse.
Then, add some toothpaste.
Not too much, just enough to cover the bristles.
After that, just wet it again.
I always like to wet it just a little bit.
And make sure you turn the tap, of course then you're not wasting the water.
Now when I put it in my mouth, I've got to do it in a circular motion all the way around to make sure that all my teeth have been splooped clean, but not too hard.
Ready? When you get all foamy, make sure you spit it out into the sink.
Rinse your brush.
I'm going to go around my mouth one more time to get all the toothpaste off them.
Rinse your toothbrush one last time.
Make sure you've got everything off it.
Shake it off.
And I'm going to rinse my mouth 'cause you can see I've got the toothpaste.
Finally, turn off your tap and just dry your mouth.
Probably don't do it with lipstick on either.
