Hello, my name is Miss Wroth.

Today we're going to be looking at the lesson, Online Worries.

This fits into the lesson unit, Our Online Lives: What should I do if I feel unsafe online? Now in this lesson, we're going to be talking about things that might make us feel worried when we go online.

So if at any point you feel uncomfortable, it's important that you stop watching and find your trusted adult to speak to.

Right, let's get ready to begin.

Today's lesson outcome is I can explain how to identify online worries and how to seek help from a trusted adult.

Let's begin by taking a look at our ground rules together, and we've got some friends here to help us.

Laura says We should listen to others, and that means not interrupting when somebody else is speaking.

Andeep says, We should respect privacy, and that means if somebody decides to share a story or their own experience, that we don't go and repeat it to others outside of this lesson.

Jacob says, No judgement , and that means if somebody does decide to share their own story or experience, that we don't judge them because of it.

And Izzy says, Choose your level of participation.

And that means you can decide if you simply just want to listen or if you want to share something throughout the lesson.

Here are today's keywords.

I will read them first to you and then you can repeat them after me.

Are you ready? Worried, trusted adult.

Safe.

Dangerous.

Well done.

Worried means thinking about something bad or upsetting.

A trusted adult is someone we know offline who makes us feel safe and can help us.

If something is safe, it means that something won't hurt us.

And dangerous, something dangerous means something that could hurt or upset us.

Let's see if we can spot these keywords throughout the lesson.

Here is the lessons outline, and we're going to begin with, how would we know if we weren't safe online? We can have lots of fun when we go online.

However, some things online are not made for children.

This means we might see or hear upsetting things online.

Different things online will make different people feel worried or upset.

This is because we are all different.

Some people might feel upset or worried if they see or hear scary photos or videos, scary noises or unkind or rude messages.

If someone is feeling upset or worried about something they have seen online, it's important not to make them feel embarrassed.

Jacob says, We should encourage others to tell at trusted adult if they see something worrying or upsetting online.

Well done, Jacob.

You're absolutely right.

Time for a check for understanding.

Feel our heart beat faster, feel hot or cry or feel like we want to cry.

Laura says, When I saw a scary video online, I felt a funny feeling in my tummy.

How do I keep safe online? Being safe online means using the internet in a way that keeps us happy and protected from dangerous things that could upset or worry us.

Just like when we look both ways before crossing the road, we need to be careful when we are using a digital device like a computer, tablet, or smartphone.

Talking to strangers online is dangerous.

We should only talk to people online who we know offline like our family and friends.

We must always ask a trusted adult before speaking to people we know online.

Sharing photos and videos of ourselves online is dangerous.

They should only be shared with our family or a trusted adult in person.

This will keep us safe and make sure that strangers don't see our photos and videos online.
