Hello, my name is Miss Willow and I am so excited to be teaching you today's lesson.

Today's lesson is called Having a Healthy Week, and it fits into the unit Physical health: How can I look after my body? We are going to be doing some fantastic learning today, so let's make a start.

By the end of today's lesson, you will be able to explain how to have a healthy week.

Before we get started, we need to go over some ground rules.

These help to make sure that everyone feels really comfortable throughout today's lesson.

We've got some friends to help us as we learn our ground rules.

Laura tells us that we should listen to others.

That means if someone's speaking, we are not going to interrupt them.

Andeep says we need to respect each other's privacy.

That means if someone chooses to share a story or an experience, we are not going to repeat that story outside of this lesson.

Jacob says, we need to not have any judgement.

That means if someone chooses to share a story or an experience, we're not going to judge them for sharing this.

And finally, Izzy says that we can choose our level of participation.

That means it's up to you how much or if you want to join in.

We're now going to go through today's keywords.

These are really important because they're gonna come up quite a few times in today's lesson, so it's important that we have a good understanding of what these words mean.

I'm going to say the keyword to you, and when I do this, I would like you to repeat it back to me.

Do you think you can do that for me? So first of all, we've got the word healthy.

Well done.

Now we've got mindfulness.

Fantastic.

Healthy means taking care of our body and our mind so that we feel good and that we don't get sick.

And mindfulness means being aware of what's happening around you and how that makes you feel.

Well done if you said those keywords and maybe you've learned some new words too.

Okay, we are now going to look at what our lesson looks like and the questions that we are going to be answering in today's lesson.

The first question that we're going to answer in the first learning cycle is: What can we do each day to keep healthy? The second question that we're going to answer in our second learning cycle is: Why is it important to keep healthy? And finally, the last question that we're going to answer in our third learning cycle is: How can we plan a healthy week? We're going to make a start on our first learning cycle: What can we do each day to keep healthy? It's really important to make good choices that help keep our bodies healthy.

Laura tells us that being healthy doesn't have to be tricky.

There are lots of simple things that we can do every day that can look after our bodies.

It's important to move our bodies and exercise each day.

And Jacob says that exercise can be many things, including playing outside with our friends or walking to school.

Maybe you do some of these things already.

Instead of driving in a car a short distance, we could choose to walk or to ride a scooter instead, with our trusted adult's help.

This is a really easy way that we can exercise and keep healthy.

Laura says that walking to places instead of driving is not only really good for our bodies, but it's also really good for the environment.

We are now going to do a check for understanding to see how you're getting on.

What can be an easy way to exercise? Is it A: walk short distances, B: drive short distances, or C: scooter short distances? Can you remember? What could be an easy way to exercise? Maybe you want to talk to the people around you, or have a think to yourself.

Well done if you said that A and C are the correct answers.

Well done.

That shows you've been really listening.

Two easy ways that we can exercise are walking short distances and scootering short distances.

Massive well done if you got these correct.

It's really important to eat a balanced diet with different types of food that give our body nutrients and energy.

Jacob tells us that eating healthily can also include eating small amounts of sweets, chocolates or crisps, just as long as we eat enough fruits and vegetables too.

We should try to eat five pieces of fruits and vegetable each day.

Laura says that "In my lunchbox, my Auntie gives me an apple, sliced cucumber, some chocolate biscuits and a cheese sandwich so that I get a healthy balance of foods." These are some great choices for Laura.

It's full of things that are really good for her and some small treats too.

We're now going to do another check for understanding to see how you're doing.

I'd like you to listen to this sentence and see if you can decide what is the missing word in the blank.

We should try to eat, something, pieces of fruit and vegetables a day.

We've got three options here.

Is the missing word, A: ten, B: five, or C: one? We should to eat how many pieces of fruits and vegetables a day? What do you think? You might want to talk to your partner or have a think to yourself? Well done if you said that the missing word is five.

We should try to eat five pieces of fruits and vegetables a day to keep our body healthy.

Well done if you got this correct.

Having good hygiene helps our body to stay healthy.

Having good hygiene means brushing our teeth twice a day, washing our hands regularly, always after using the toilet and having a bath or shower regularly, it's also important to get enough rest and sleep each night.

This means going to bed and waking up when our trusted adult has told us to.

Laura tells us, "I go to bed early on school nights so that I have plenty of energy for the next day." Laura is doing a brilliant job of getting enough sleep every night.

To help us fall asleep easier at night, we should try to do something relaxing.

For example, we could read a story, do some yoga or listen to some calming music that makes us feel nice and calm and relaxed.

Andeep says that "Using digital devices before bed can make it difficult to fall asleep." This means that if we know we're going to go to bed soon, we should stop using any digital devices as this can make it difficult for us to fall asleep and get a good night's sleep.

Let's do another check for understanding, but this time I'd like you to decide if this sentence is true or false.

Here's the sentence: Doing something relaxing before bed can help us fall asleep quicker.

Can you have a think, is this true or is it false? You might want to talk to the people around you have a think to yourself or maybe you want to tell me.

Well done if you said that this is true.

It is true that doing something relaxing before bed can help us to fall asleep quicker.

Well done if you got this correct.

That shows you've been really listening and paying attention, so well done.

We should try and include some mindfulness activities in our day to keep our minds healthy.

And look, we've got some of our keywords here.

Mindfulness was one of our keywords and so was healthy.

For example, we can practise yoga, do some colouring, or we can spend some time outside.

These are awesome examples of some mindfulness activities and these can help to keep our minds healthy.

Jacob says that "Mindfulness activities help me to feel relaxed." And Izzy says that "If I feel upset or angry, I try some mindfulness activities to help me feel more calm." These are some great ideas.

We are now going to do another check for understanding.

I'd like you to fill in the missing word in this sentence.

Mindfulness activities keep our, something, healthy.

Is the missing word A: bones, B: muscles or C: minds? What's the missing word in the sentence? Can you tell the people around you, have a think to yourself or maybe you want to tell me? Well done if you said C is correct.

Mindfulness activities keep our minds healthy.

Well done if you remembered this.

We are now moving on to your first practise task.

You are doing a brilliant job so far, so keep it up.

For the first part of the activity, I'd like you to draw and label an activity that can help keep our bodies healthy.

And then once you've done that, I'd like you to draw and label an activity that can help keep our minds healthy.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what you come up with in a few minutes.

So pause the video and we'll go through what you might have said in a few minutes.

Fantastic.

Okay, we are now going to see what your pictures and your labels could have looked like.

You might have drawn a lunchbox with some healthy snacks in.

Eating a balanced diet of different types of food can help keep our bodies healthy.

And for the second part of the activity where you were drawing something that can help keep your mind healthy, you might have said that mindfulness colouring can help keep our minds healthy.

There are lots of different correct answers for this one, so well done if you got this or something similar.

We are now going to answer our second question: Why is it important to keep healthy? It's really important to keep healthy so that we can grow, we can play and we can learn at school.

Keeping healthy makes us feel good.

When we keep healthy, our bodies feel really strong and full of energy so that we can do lots of different things in our day.

Let's see how you're doing with this learning cycle so far.

Is this statement true or false? Keeping healthy makes us feel tired.

What do you think? Is this true or false? Pause the video, talk to the people around you or have a think to yourself, and you can tell me too.

Well done if you said that this is not true, this is false, but why? You might have said that keeping healthy gives our bodies energy so that we can do things, like grow, play and learn.

Well done if you've said this or if you had a similar answer.

Eating healthy food, getting enough sleep and keeping our bodies clean helps to fight off germs so that we feel well and we don't get sick.

Healthy habits, like eating a balanced diet of different types of food and exercising, can help our bones, muscles and heart to grow strong.

Here in these diagrams, you can see our skeleton, so these are our bones, our muscles and our heart.

It's really important to do what we can to keep these parts of our body healthy.

Let's do another check for understanding.

We are going to listen to what Izzy and Alex have to say and we are going to decide who is correct.

Izzy and Alex are talking about why it's important to keep healthy, but we need to decide who is correct.

Alex says that "Keeping healthy helps our bones, muscles and our hearts to grow strong." But Izzy says that "Keeping healthy helps us to be the fastest runner in the class." Who is correct? Why is it important to keep healthy? Is Alex correct or Izzy? What do you think? Talk to the people around you or have a think to yourself.

Well done if you said that Alex is correct.

It's important to keep healthy, to keep our bones, muscles and our hearts to grow strong.

Well done if you also said that Alex is correct.

Taking care of our mind helps us to feel calm and ready to learn and play.

Jacob says that "Looking after our minds is just as important as keeping our bodies healthy." We're going to do another true or false question.

Is the sentence true or false? Keeping our bodies healthy is more important than looking after our minds.

What do you think? Tell the people around you, have a think to yourself or tell me.

Well done if you said that this is false, but why? You might have said that looking after our minds is just as important as keeping our bodies healthy.

When we look after our minds, we can feel calm and ready to do things in our day.

Well done if you got this right.

We're now moving on to our second practise task.

You are doing a brilliant job and doing some brilliant listening and focusing, so let's move on to our second practise task.

I'd like you to label Izzy with two reasons why it's important to keep healthy.

One has already been done for you, so we've already got that it's important to keep healthy because being healthy makes us feel good.

Can you come up with two more reasons about why it's important to keep healthy? Pause the video and we'll go through what you might have said in a few minutes.

Okay, let's have a look and see what your answers could have included.

You might have said that it's important to keep healthy because looking after our minds helps us to feel calm.

You might have said that being healthy helps our bones, muscles and heart to grow strong or you might have said that being healthy helps to fight off germs. Well done if you had any of these reasons or if you had something similar.

We are now moving on to our final learning cycle and we're going to answer our final question: How can we plan a healthy week? You're doing a brilliant job, so let's keep it up for this final learning cycle.

There are lots of fun and easy things that we can do to plan a healthy week.

Andeep wants to ask you a question.

"Can you think of any healthy things that you do in your week already?" Maybe you want to share with the people around you or just have a think to yourself.

Can you think of any healthy things that you do in your week already? We can plan to eat a balanced diet of lots of different types of foods.

It's important to eat foods that are the different colours of the rainbow.

Here we've got some spaghetti Bolognese or a banana.

Spaghetti Bolognese is like a red colour and a banana is a yellow colour.

This means that we're eating lots of different foods of different colours, a good variety of foods that are really good for us.

We could also eat some blueberries.

These are blue.

We're adding some more foods to our food rainbow.

Or some peas.

These are green.

So this is another colour that we can add to our balanced diet and our food rainbow.

Jacob tells us that he likes to use this rainbow to help him to eat lots of different foods.

Each colour of foods helps our bodies in different ways and it's important to eat from lots of different colours of food.

Let's do a check for understanding.

How can thinking about a rainbow help us to plan a healthy week? A,: it helps us to eat different types of foods.

B: it helps to do different types of exercises or C: it helps us to sleep more easily at night.

What do you think? How can thinking about a rainbow help us to plan a healthy week? Can you remember what we've said so far in this learning cycle? Pause the video, talk to the people around you or have a think to yourself, Well done if you said that A is correct.

We can use a rainbow to help us to plan a healthy week by making sure that we eat different types of foods that are all different colours of the rainbow.

This helps us to stay healthy.

During our week, we should plan to spend time moving our bodies and exercising.

This could be as simple as walking to school, playing outside, or swimming at your local club.

Jun tells us, "I love exercising in my PE lessons at school." This is a fantastic idea.

Well done, Jun! It's important to also spend time in our week doing things that we enjoy, such as climbing at the park or doing some arts and crafts.

Jun says, "Doing things that we enjoy helps keep our minds healthy." Remember, keeping our minds healthy is just as important as keeping our bodies healthy.

Let's see how you're getting on with another check for understanding.

Can you fill in the missing word in the sentence? Doing things we enjoy helps keep our, what healthy is the missing word A: bodies, B muscles, or C: minds? What do you think? Pause the video, talk to the people around you, tell me or have a think to yourself.

Well done If you said that the missing word was "minds." Doing things that we enjoy helps keep our minds healthy.

After each day, we must make sure that we get enough sleep so that we can rest, grow, and repair our bodies.

Jun says, "I like reading a story before bedtime as it helps me to fall asleep more easily." Reading a story before bedtime is a really lovely way of relaxing before bed and making sure that we get a good night's sleep.

Now I'd like you to fill in the missing keyword.

Remember, we had a look at these at the very start of today's lesson.

We must get enough sleep each night to help us keep our bodies.

what? Can you remember the missing word that should go in this gap? Well done if you said that "healthy" was our missing keyword.

We must get enough sleep each night to help keep our bodies healthy.

Good job if you got this right.

We are now moving on to our final practise task.

You've done some brilliant learning today, so keep it up with our last practise task of today's lesson.

Andeep is talking about how he could plan a healthy week.

Andeep says, "I'm going to make sure to exercise and move my body during the week." Tell your partner two or more things that Andeep could do to plan a healthy week.

Try to think of something to keep both his mind healthy and something to keep his body healthy.

Pause the video and we'll go through some potential answers in a few minutes.

Okay, let's see what your answers could have included.

You might have said he could eat a balanced diet of different types of food to keep his body healthy.

He could do something that he enjoys, like arts and crafts to keep his mind healthy, and he could get enough sleep each night to keep his body healthy.

Well done if you had any of the same ideas.

We have already come to the end of today's lesson and you've done a brilliant job.

We are now going to summarise the key things that we've learned in today's lesson.

So today we've learned that healthy eating, exercise and good sleep are important for our health.

Being healthy makes us feel good, helps to fight off germs and helps our bodies grow strong.

Looking after our minds is just as important as keeping our bodies healthy.

We can do mindfulness activities like yoga, colouring, and spending time outside to keep our minds healthy.

Keeping healthy doesn't have to be difficult.

We can do easy things in our week to stay healthy, for example, walking to school instead of driving, getting enough sleep each night and practising good hygiene.

If you have any questions or worries about today's lesson, it's really important that you speak to a trusted adult about how you feel.

This could be a parent, carer, or an adult at school.

There's also some organisations and some resources on the screen if you do need any extra help.

I'm really proud of your hard work in today's lesson.

I've really enjoyed teaching you and I hope to see you in another lesson soon.
