In this unit pupils will double and halve 2 digit numbers. They will learn to use times table facts to find the quotient for 2x 5x 10x tables. Pupils will learn each part of a division equation and how they can be interchanged.  In the future unit pupils will solve multiplication and division problems using knowledge of the relationships between the 2x 4x 8x tables.

In the prior unit pupils learned how a multiplication equation with 2 as a factor related to doubling and how a division equation with 2 as a divisor related to halving. They explained the relationship between factors and products. In this unit pupils will double and halve 2 digit numbers. They will learn to use times table facts to find the quotient for 2x 5x 10x tables. 

Doubling, halving, quotative and partitive division

24 people are waiting to ride The Ferris Wheel. Each carriage holds 2 people. How many carriages will be filled? 

There is a long queue for The Swirler. A group of 12 is split equally into 2 different queues. How many people will be in each queue? There will be {{ }} people in each queue. 

On Bonkers Buckets, Sofia has 18 balls. If she gets an equal amount in each bucket, how many balls did she get in each bucket? She got {{  }} balls into each bucket. 

Match the start of each count to the next number you would say if skip counting in twos. Notice some counts are backwards.

If 9 and 2 are the factors, what is the product?
