Humans and animals use their senses to detect what is happening around them.

Sight is the ability to see things. We use our eyes to see.

Touch is the ability to feel things. We use our skin to touch.

The tongue is the organ with which we taste. A human's tongue is in its mouth.

The skin is the organ with which we feel. Skin covers the bodies of animals.

Science

In this Human body parts unit, pupils learn to draw and label basic parts of the human body. In the Human skeleton and muscles unit, they build on this knowledge to learn that humans have skeletons and muscles for support, protection and movement

Pupils will draw upon prior learning about the human body in EYFS and their own everyday experiences of using their senses. In this Human body parts unit, pupils will build on this knowledge to identify and name a greater range of basic body parts, including those associated with their senses
