20 November 2024Supporting the use of NCETM Curriculum Prioritisation materials
Dr Ed Southall
Subject Lead (maths)
Each unit in our primary maths curriculum aligns both in sequence and recommended duration to the units in the Curriculum Prioritisation materials from the National Centre of Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM). They also correspond to the specific statements within the ready-to-progress criteria within the Department for Education’s non-statutory guidance.
We’ve created a quick guide that you can use to see where the alignment is and quickly navigate to the relevant units on our website. For each lesson in the units, you can find a lesson overview and download adaptable teaching resources.
To support you in assessing your pupils’ progress, at the start of each year group in the quick guide we’ve included links to the non-statutory guidance assessment questions.
Planning a primary maths lesson using our resources
Explore our curriculum sequences for primary maths and secondary maths. Use them as inspiration for your own planning, or to see where you could use our teaching resources to update what you’ve already got.
For every lesson in our curriculum plans, we provide teaching resources that you can use to plan your own lesson. These include slide decks, worksheets, and starter and exit quizzes. We also share guidance from the teachers who made the resources, such as video explanations and tips on common misconceptions and how you could tackle them.
All of these resources are free to download and they’re editable, so you can pick and choose the elements that work best for you and your pupils.
