Now I love stories.

I love telling stories.

I love writing stories and I love recycling stories which means I can take stories I already know and change them to make them my own with lots of my own ideas.

And that is exactly what we're doing in this unit.

We are taking the story Anansi and Tiger that you learned in unit four, and we are changing it to make it our own.

And then we're going to tell and write our new stories.

Let's make a start with today's lesson.

In lesson one, we came up with new ideas for our recycled stories.

Didn't we, I mean, created in lesson one we came up with new ideas for our recycled versions of Anansi and Tiger, and we created our own story maps.

Didn't we, and we created new story maps in today's lesson, we're going to tell our new recycled versions from memory and this is how we're going to do it.

First.

We're going to sing our action that is clear song, to remind us how to tell stories with clear action.

Then we're going to talk our new story maps.

We're then going to step our new stories and finally speak on new stories.

So by the end of today's lesson you will be able to tell your new story from memory.

Now in today's lesson, you're only going to need your story map that you created in lesson one.

You don't need any paper, or pen or pencil, just your story map.

So pause the video now and go and get it, If you don't already have it with you.

You are back with your story map which means you are ready to start the learning today.

Now, let's just recap our action, that is clear toolkit.

Now I know that you've been learning all about action.

That's clear in unit four.

And like I said, in lesson one we are going to stick with that focus for this unit.

We're going to make sure that our new recycled stories have really clear action in them too.

So let's begin by singing our action song and then we'll run through the toolkit on the screen.

Okay.

So I know you the song by now.

So join in with me straight away, ready? You've got to show what happens, step-by-step, you've got to show what happens, Where and when, you've got to show what happens, how it looks you've got to show what happens.

So that is our action.

That's clear.

So now let's unpick it in a bit more detail and think about what it tells us about what clear action is.

Now I know that, you know, this toolkit already from unit four, but we're just going to remind ourselves because when we're telling our new stories today we are going to really try hard to make the action clear.

So how do we do that? Well, we're going to describe the actions of characters to make it really clear what's happening in our new stories.

And we're going to do that by saying what's happens in a clear order by giving some information about where and when things happen and by using some objectives to add detail.

So those are three things, that I really want us to think about when we're telling our news stories today.

Now we are going to talk our maps that we created yesterday.

So let's get on with that.

I'm going to show you how I'm going to talk my map and then it's going to be your turn to talk yours.

So here's my new story map with my own ideas.

And I'm going to talk it through for you now.

Now I'm just going to tell the main events in the story in basic detail to make it clear what's happens.

So watch me do this.

Once, there was a spider called Anansi.

Anansi loved to play tricks to get what he wanted.

Now Anansi was fed up with Tiger.

Who had all the stories.

He wanted them for himself.

So he's going to tigers cave and made a deal.

"Tiger," He said, "I'll get you three things that you really want.

And in return, you must give me your stories." Tiger agreed and said he wanted three things.

He wanted a dog's bone, the pots of gold from an ogre, and a peacocks fan.

So off Anansi scurried and he found dog with his bone.

The first trick he played was on dog.

He said, "fetch" and threw a stick dog bounded off to get the stick, and Anansi grabbed the bone.

Off he scurried to find ogre guarding his pot of gold.

And he played his next trick on ogre.

He said, "ogre, you're so sad and lonely.

Aren't you? Because you live all by yourself.

Well, there's a lovely lady, ogre waiting down by the Lake to have dinner with you".

Ogre couldn't believe his luck.

He got up, and ran off to the Lake, as fast as his legs could carry him Anansi snatched the pot of gold and scurried off to find peacock.

He found peacock down by the Lake and played his third trick "Peacock, I can help you be even more magnificent here.

Take this bright, shiny crown and you will be King of all birds.

The most magnificent bird in the world".

Peacock agreed and swapped his fan for the crown.

Anansi ran back to tiger with the dog's bone the pots of gold and peacocks fan.

Tiger had no choice but to give Anansi all of his stories.

And that's why from that day to this you won't find any tigers in those places or any tiger stories because they all belong to Anansi.

So now you've heard me talk my story map using my ideas for Anansi tricks.

I would like you to have a go at talking yours using your own ideas for Anansi's tricks.

So for example, thinking about how Anansi would trick ogre you might have decided, that Anansi will offer him a fantastic wig to wear to the party later, or that there might be a surprise birthday party waiting for him down at the Lake up to you.

But I would like you to talk your maps with your own ideas for Anansi's tricks.

So pause the video now and have it go with that.

And now that you've talked your story map we are now ready to step out on new stories.

So, stepping out the story with a clear action for each picture on our map is really going to help us remember what's happens.

So I'm going to do it with mine first which means I'm going to do it just with actions, no words.

So watch me do it.

And then you're going to join in with me.

We're going to do it for my story first and then you're going to step out your story in mime.

So see if you can work out what's happening at each step.

Now.

The first action was for Anansi.

So this was for spider.

This was to show that he's clever.

This next action.

Was Anansi calling tiger out of his cave this action was to show that they were shaking on a deal.

This action was to show Anansi throwing a stick so that he could get dog's bone.

This action was to show the lovely lady waiting for the ogre down by the Lake, so Nancy could snatch his pots of golds, and this action was to show peacock swapping his fan for the crown.

And finally, this action was to show Anansi getting all of Tiger's stories.

So now that you've seen me map, not map now that you see me set my story in mime I would like you to have a go at stepping out your new story with mime.

For your turn to step your new stories in mime now.

Like I did for mine.

Remember to take a step for each picture on your map and do a clear action to go with each step pause the video now and have a go at that for your story.

You've set your story both in mime, and with words, you now know your new stories well enough to be able to have a go at telling them in a bit more detail.

So we are going to speak the story now, I would like you to watch me tell my new story first and watch out for how I make the action clear by saying what happens in a clear order by giving detail about where and when things happen and also by using some adjectives to add detail.

So I'm going to tell you my new recycled story of Anansi and Tiger, and then it's going to be your turn.

Now I'm going to have a go at telling my story in as much detail as I can.

And I've got my story map with me to help me.

This is the story of Anansi and Tiger.

Once upon a time, there was a spider called Anansi.

Now Anansi was clever, Anansi was quick.

And what Anansi he wanted, he usually got with a trick.

Now it just so happens that in that place all of the stories belong to tiger.

There was tiger and elephant, tiger and the sun tiger, Tiger the great and so on.

Now, Anansi was fed up with the situation.

He wanted the stories for himself.

So he decided to trick tiger into giving him his stories.

So Anansi scurried and he scuttled, he scurried and he scuttled, he scurried and he scuttled all the way to Tiger's cave.

When he got to Tiger's cave, there was an echo.

Can you give the echo? Oh, Tiger.

Anansi calls in a sing song voice.

Go bring the echo with me.

Ready? Oh, Tiger.

Tiger came prowling out of his cave and go out.

"What do you want?" He didn't like Anansi much.

"Well," said Anansi, "come to make you a deal.

I'm going to get you three things that you really want.

And in return, you must give me all of your stories." And Tiger thought about this for a while.

He thought this might be a good chance to get rid of Anansi So in the end he agreed.

"Deal," he said An honourable tiger shook on it with his pole Very well then, I want you to get me a dog's bone, a pot of gold from an ogre and a peacocks fan.

Get me those things.

And you can have your stories.

Now Anansi was clever, Anansi was quick and what's Anansi wanted, he usually got with a good trick.

So he scurried and he scuttled, he scurried and he scuttles, he scurried and he scuttled all the way to the tree where he knew dog was playing "oh, dog." he called Go bring the echo with me.

Ready? Oh dog.

"Yes." Said dog Dog, I've heard that you really love to play.

Is that true? "Whoa, whoa.

Oh yes" Said dog Well I've got a stick for you and Anansi threw the stick, and said "Fetch." Whoa, whoa, whoa, and off dog bounded, excitedly after that stick and Anansi snatched his bone.

Now Anansi was clever, and Anansi was quick and what's Anansi wanted, he usually got with a good trick.

So he's scurried and he scuttles he's scurried, and he scuttles, he scurried and he scuttled all the way to the pile of rocks where he knew ogre was sitting on top of a pot of gold.

"Oh, Ogre." He calls in his sing song voice.

Can you bring the echo with me? Go on, Oh ogre.

"Yes." Said ogre Ogre, I've heard that you're lonely and sad because you live all alone.

Is that true? "Yes." Replied Olga in a sad voice.

Well, I've got a way that I can help you.

I've got a lovely lady waiting to have dinner with you down by the Lake.

A lovely lady, ogre, who says that she really wants to meet you.

Then maybe you'll find love and you won't be lonely anymore.

"Really?" Said ogre He got up and sped down to that Lake, As fast as his legs would carry him Anansi grabbed the pot of gold.

Now, Anansi was clever, Anansi was quick.

And what Anansi wanted, he usually got with a good trick.

So he scurried and he scuttled he's scurried and he scuttled he's scurried and he scuttled all the way down to the Lake where he found peacock pruning his feathers and admiring himself in the waters, reflection.

"Oh, peacock." He calls in his sing song voice.

Go bring the echo with me.

Ready? Oh, peacock.

"Yes." Replied peacock.

Now peacock, I've heard, that you want to be the most magnificent bird in the whole world.

Is that true? "Oh yes." Replied peacock.

Well, I think I've got a way I can help you said Anansi.

If you want to be the most magnificent bird then you should swap your fan for this bright, shiny crown.

Then you'll be even more magnificent.

You will be the King of all birds.

"Ooh," said peacock.

"I'd like that, go on and let's swap." And peacock gave Anansi his fan, and took the bright, shiny crown.

Now peacock had given him his fan.

So Anansi had all of the things that tiger wanted.

So he scurried any scuttled, he scurried any scuttled, he scurried and he scuttled, all the way back to Tiger's cave.

"Oh, tiger." he called Bring the echo with me.

ready? Oh, tiger.

And out came tiger.

Here you go tiger, I've got you.

All the things you wanted, here's your dog's bone.

Here's your pot of gold from the ogre.

And here is your peacock's fan.

Now you have to give me all of your stories.

Now tiger, honourable as he was, had no choice, but to agree.

And so he handed over to Anansi all of his precious stories.

And that's why from that day to this you won't find tigers in those places.

You won't find any tiger stories either because they all belong to Anansi And that's the end of the story Anansi and Tiger.
