And welcome to our last lesson in our unit on instructions.
I'm really sad it's going to be over.
But not to worry because we have got an exciting lesson ahead.
Finishing writing our set of instructions and then performing them in role.
Now, before we start in lesson nine, we had a go at creating some songs, didn't we, for our sets of instructions? The fairy song, the harp song, the mermaid song, and I would love to sing them to start our lesson today.
So are you ready to sing with me? We're going to start with the mermaid song.
Then we're going to sing the fairy song and then harp song.
So ready, join in, let's go.

So today we are going to finish writing our new set of instructions, and then we're going to perform them in role.
This is what the lesson is going to look like in a bit more detail.
First, we are going to do a spelling activity.
Then we're going to do some shared writing.
Then some editing of our writing.
And finally, we are going to perform our finished set of instructions in role.
In today's lesson, you will need an exercise book or a piece of paper, a pen or pencil to write with, your boxing up grid, and your writing from the last few lessons.
So pause the video now and make sure you have those things with you, if you haven't already got them.

Now then, let's begin with our spelling review.
Now we're going to do a review today, which means we are going to recap the spellings that we have learned over the last few units.
So let's have a look and see if we can remember what some of those spelling rules were.
So first, I would like you to put these verbs in the past tense.
Remember past tense means that it's already happened.
So first, I would like you to put these verbs in the past tense.
So let's read the verbs together first.
Ready, shout, walk, play.
Those are the verbs.
Now you're going to put them in the past tense.
Remember, past tense means it's already happened.
The action has happened, it's finished.
So what is the suffix you need to add on the end of those verbs to put them in past tense? I wonder if you can remember.
Pause the video now and write down those verbs in the past tense.
Okay, should we see how you got on? Go on then, tell me what was the suffix that you added to the ends of those words to put them in the past tense? Say the suffix was, go on, tell your screen now.
Fantastic, well remembered.
The suffix was -ed, wasn't it? Remember we put -ed on the end of most verbs to put them in the past tense.
So let's have a look.
You should have added -ed so that now those verbs read shouted, walked, played, And walked is a bit of a tricky one isn't it? Because it sounds like it ends in a T sound.
It sounds like it ends in the letter T, but it doesn't.
It's the -ed ending, which just sounds like a T.
Now I wonder if you can work out what suffix needs adding to the ends of these verbs in these sentences to make them make sense.
Now, a suffix remember, is a letter or group of letters that we add to the end of a word to change its meaning.
I forgot to tell you that on the last slide, just in case you weren't sure.
So let's read these sentences together.
The shoemaker is sing a song.
Now what suffix would we add to the end of sing so it makes sense there? Let's read the next one.
She is wear her magic shoes.
The hat maker is play with his magic hat.
So what suffix needs to be added to the end of all of those verbs in those sentences? Pause the video now and have a think about that.
You don't need to write them down, just say them out loud with the correct suffix on the end of each verb.

Okay, brilliant.
Well done for having a try.
How did you get on? Go on then, tell me what suffix you think needs adding? Say, "I think it's the suffix." Go on, tell your screen now.
Well remembered, so lots of you remembering our suffixes that we learned in earlier units, fantastic.
You need to add the suffix, I-N-G, -ing to these verbs so they make sense.
So let's have a look.
The shoemaker is singing a song.
She is wearing her magic shoes.
The hat maker is playing with her magic hat.
So when we add the suffix, I-N-G, -ing onto the end of the verb, it means that the action is still happening.
It hasn't finished yet, it's continuing, still going on.
Now let's move on to our tricky words.
In lesson six and lesson eight in this unit, we have been practising spelling some tricky words, haven't we? Now in the table on your screen, you can see some of the tricky words that we've been learning, but that all spelled incorrectly.
Now your job is to try and fix those mistakes.
So I would like you to have a go at writing these words down with the correct spellings on your piece of paper.

Well done for having a really good try at that.
Should we see how you got on? So what should these words be spelled like? Let's have a look.
The first word here should be spelled H-E-R-E.
H-E-R-E spells here as in here.
For example, the magic cloak maker is here.
Now the next word is house, spelled H-O-U-S-E.
For example, I need to go to the house of a tree troll to get it's snot, house.
Now the next word is where spelled W-H-E-R-E.
For example, where is the magic cloak? There, I used where as a question word at the start of a question, haven't I? The next word is there, spelled T-H-E-R-E.
For example, there are gold stars on my magic shoes.
The next word is school, spelled S-C-H-O-O-L, school.
For example, I, oh no, let's change that.
For example, the hat maker went to magic school.
And finally is.
Is, spelled I-S.
I-S spells is, brilliant.
Great job with your tricky words.
Now, if you've got any of those wrong, then you'd might like to pause the video here for a bit longer and practise spelling those words, maybe do your corrections.
But otherwise let's move on with the learning, shall we? So, we are going to get our boxing up grids now, and we are going to tell the last section of our new set of instructions.
So make sure you've got your boxing up grid with you, just like I've got mine with me.
So I'm now going to tell the last section of my set of instructions using my boxing up grid to help me.
And then you're going to do it with your set of instructions.
So listen to me first.
I'm going to start with this picture here.
Then the magic shoes will appear on your feet.
When you put them on, you will look fantastic.
You will feel like you can go wherever you want to go.
So that is the last section of my set of instructions.
And that is the part that we are going to write today.
I would like you to pause the video here and tell your last part of your instructions using your boxed up grid to help you.
So pause the video now and do that.
So now you've retold that last part of your set of instructions.
You now know what to write.
And you remember this last part is reminding people what the item is for.
So what the magic shoes are for.
What the magic hat is for.
And what the magic cloak is for.
So let's just remind ourselves, shall we? We know that the magic shoes are for taking us wherever we want to go.
The magic hat is to give us whatever we want most.
And the magic cloak makes us invisible.
So let's bear that in mind when we are writing our last section today.
Okay, now we're ready to start writing.
So make sure you've got your boxing up grid in front of you, just like I have.
It's really going to help us know what to write.
Now we are going to write the last section, aren't we? So it's going to be this last box in our grid that's going to help us today.
But before we have a look at that, let's just go back to the last thing that we wrote at the end of lesson nine.
So at the end of lesson nine, I wrote my song.
The song that you need to sing for the magic shoes to appear.
So here it is.
Should we sing it together? ♪ I am a ferry from the forest tree ♪ ♪ Don't you want some magic, like me ♪ ♪ My wings are full of magic, you see ♪ ♪ That's why there's magic in the forest tree ♪ So that was the final part of my, what to do section wasn't it.
And when you sing that song, what happens? Go on, tell me to your screen, now.
What happens when you sing that song? You're right.
Suddenly the magic shoes appear on your feet.
And that is going to be my first sentence that I write today.
So, let's have a look.
And that makes sense, doesn't it, on my boxing up grid? Can you see, the first picture in my last section is the magic shoes.
So my sentence is going to be, Suddenly the magic shoes will appear on your feet.
So say that with me.
Suddenly the magic shoes will appear on your feet.
Now let's count it on our fingers, ready? Suddenly the magic shoes will appear on your feet.
Nine words, so I'm just going to write nine down here to remind me.
Let's say it one more time together, ready? Suddenly the magic shoes will appear on your feet.
So that's going to be my sentence.
Help me write it.
So I need a capital letter at the start of my sentence.
Suddenly, suddenly, suddenly watch me write it.
Suddenly.
Finger space, the, the magic.
We know how to write this word by now, don't we? Magic shoes.
We also now know how to write shoes.
Suddenly the magic shoes will.
Two Ls at the end of will.
Suddenly the magic shoes will appear, appear, appear.
On your, your tricky word, your feet.
We can sound out feet, can't we? Feet, feet.
Full stop at the end of my sentence.
Suddenly, read it back with me.
"Suddenly the magic shoes will appear on your feet." Now let's check, is that nine words, let's count.
Suddenly the magic shoes will appear on your feet.
Yes, it is.
So that's my sentence.
Now your sentence is either going to be about magic shoes, too.
Or it's going to be about a magic hat appearing on your head or a magic cloak appearing on your back.
Now time to write your sentence.
So your sentence might read the same as mine if you're making magic shoes.
If you're making a magic hat, you might say suddenly the hat will appear on your, where's it going to appear? Your head, won't it? Or you might say suddenly the magic cloak will appear on your back.
So I would like you to have a go at writing that sentence.
I've given you the word your, but I'd like you to have a go at writing the word, head, back, or feet on your own.

Now we're ready to write our next sentence, telling people how they will feel when they wear our items. So I'm going to start my sentence, when you wear them, you will feel.
Now, how could I finish that sentence? I wonder if you could give me some ideas.
How do you think you will feel when you wear the magic shoes? Can you tell me some ideas? Now, go on, tell your screen to help me out.

I can definitely use some of those.
Let me tell you what I heard.
I heard, "When you add them, you will feel amazing." I also heard, "When you wear them, you will feel fantastic." And I also heard, "When you wear them, you will feel fabulous." Now I could use any one of those adjectives to describe how you will feel, because they all tell me that you're going to feel great when you wear them.
And that's what we want people to feel.
I think I'm going to choose the word fantastic for my sentence.
So my sentence is going to be, when you wear them, you will feel fantastic.
Say it with me.
When you wear them, you will feel fantastic.
Tap it out on your nose.
When you wear them, you will feel fantastic.
And count it on your fingers so we don't have any words, ready? When you wear them, you will feel fantastic.

When, now one about tricky words, isn't it? So watch me spell it.
W-H-E-N spells when.
When you, another tricky word.

Now another tricky word, this time spelled W-E-A-R.
So wear, as in to wear clothes, is spelled W-E-A-R.
Not like our spelling words, which is W-H-E-R-E.
When you wear them.
When you wear them, you will.
Two L's at the end of will.
You will feel, sound it out with me.
Feel, feel fantastic.
Now we can sound this word out.
Fan let's start with the first syllable, F, a, n, fan.
Tas, tast, Fantast, what's the last syllable.
Tic, tic, tic.
Fantastic.
So we can sound out fantastic by breaking it down into the syllables, into the three different syllables in the word.
When you wear them, you will feel fantastic.
And what do I need at the end of my sentence? A full stop.
Now let's check it's eight words, shall we? When you wear them, you will feel fantastic.
There's my eight words.
And it makes sense.
Brilliant, now your turn to write your second sentence.
So I've given you the opener.
When you wear it or them.
So if you're making a magic hat or a magic cloak, you will use it, because there's just one of them.
If you're making magic shoes, there's more than one, plural, so you have to use the word them.
So when you wear it or them, you will feel.
And then you can choose from one of the words in the blue boxes.
Or you might have another idea of your own.
So I would like you to finish that sentence.

Okay, so now we are going to add one final sentence, just to tell people a little bit more detail about how great they're going to feel when they were either our magic hat, our magic cloak, or our magic shoes.
We really want people to follow our instructions, don't we? So this sentence is really going to convince them to do it.
So I've got three options here for my sentence.
I wonder if you can help me choose.
I could say you will feel like you can have anything.
I could say, you will feel like you have super powers.
Or I could say, you will feel like you can go anywhere.
Which of those sentences do you think I should choose? Which one makes most sense for my magic shoes, do you think? Go on, tell me to your screen now which one of those options would you choose? Oh, yes, you're right.
I need to choose the last one, don't I? You will feel like you can go anywhere.
That's because that's what my magic shoes are for.
They take you wherever you want to go.
So that's going to be my sentence.
It's going to be, you will feel like you can go anywhere.
So go on then, help me to write it.

My sentence makes sense, doesn't it? And it's got a capital letter at the start, and a full stop at the end.
Brilliant, I think people are really going to want to make my magic shoes.
Now they know that they will feel like they can go anywhere when they wear them.
And now time for you to write your last sentence.
It's going to start, you will feel.
Now I haven't given you the word feel, because I think you can sound that out and write it yourselves.
And then you might like to finish your sentence with one of the ideas in the blue boxes.
So let's read them.
Like you can have anything, like you have superpowers, or like you can go anywhere.
And it might depend on you're making.
So if you're making a magic hat, you might pick the first one, like you can have anything, because the magic hat gives you whatever you want.
If you are making magic shoes, then you might pick the last one like me.
Like you can go anywhere, because magic shoes take you wherever you want to go, don't they? And if you are making a magic cloak, then you might choose the second one, like you have super powers.
Because I think being invisible is a bit like having a superpower.
Or you might have a different idea of your own.
That's fine too.
So I would like you to write your final sentence.

So now you have your finished set of instructions.
What an amazing job you have done.
Now, just before we perform them, first of all, we need to reread and edit them just like all great writers to make sure that they are the best they can be.
So first I would like you to read your finished set of instructions back to yourself.
Then I want you to think about sad.
So think if there's anything you would swap, any words that you would swap, any words that you would add, or any words that you would delete, take out.
And then finally, I would like you to five finger check your work.
So really importantly, check it makes sense.
Check that you've used full stops where they need to be.
Check your spellings.
Have you tried really hard to sound out words? Have you tried with your tricky words, especially the ones that we've been learning in this unit? Have you got finger spaces and capital letters, as well, where you need them? So pause the video now, and reread and edit your work so that then you're ready to perform your set of instructions in role.
Now we have our finished set of instructions.
We are ready to have a go at performing them in role.
So I'm going to do it first for you.
And I'd like you to notice how I use my voice.
So how I make my voice clear.
I'd like you to notice how I use my words, how I make them precise, which means exact, so that people don't get confused.
And finally how I use my body.
So how I use actions to help make my instructions clear as well.

My name is the shoemaker, and I love making shoes.
I love to make sparkly shoes and shiny shoes.
I love to make pink shoes and gold shoes, but the very best shoes to make are magic shoes.
When you put them on your feet, they take you wherever you want to go.
But shh, it's our secret.
I'm the only person in the world who knows how to make them.
But I'm going to tell you today.
You will need the horn of a faun, the tooth of a shark, the song of a fairy, the snot of a tree troll, and the queen's bathtub.
This is what you do.
First, add the horn of a faun and the tooth of a shark into the queen's bathtub.
Then mix it altogether with the snot of a tree troll.
Finally sing the song of a fairy.
It goes like this.

When you wear them, you will look fantastic.

And that is how to make magic shoes.
