Hello everyone, my name's Miss Barron.

And as you know, I love stories.

And in this unit, we're learning the story Monkeys and Hats.

If you were here in lesson one, I told the story and then we talked about it together using the plot matrix.

And if you were here in lesson two, then you learnt to tell the story from memory in your own way, using a four step process called hear, map, step, speak.

Today, we are going to retell the main events in the story in lots of different ways.

I know that I'm going to have lots of fun today, and I hope that you do too.

So this is what we're going to do today.

First, we're going to do a quick spelling activity.

Then, we're going to reflect the story, after that, we're going to sing the story, and finally, we're going to mime the story.

So this is what you're going to need today.

You are going to need something to write on.

So an exercise book or a piece of paper and a pen or pencil to write with.

Fantastic, you are back with everything you need and ready to start the learning.

And remember you always need your wonderful creative selves and all the wonderful creative things that you can do.

All I ask is that you give it your best shot that you have a go.

And remember it doesn't matter if you make mistakes because mistakes are what make the learning great.

So let's make a start with our spelling activity today.

For our spellings this week, we are going to be practising the letters of the alphabet to help us with our reading and writing.

So we're going to sing the alphabet song again today, and I want you to sing it with me and join in with the actions if you can.

While we're singing, try and follow the lowercase letters of the alphabet on your screen with your eyes, that's going to help you recognise them.

Okay, are we ready? Quick warm up of the body.

Let's go.

Remember, make sure the letters sit on the line.

If your letter has an ascender make sure it goes up and if it has a descender, make sure it goes down below the line.

Now some of these answers are quite tricky to write, so you might need to look at mine carefully to help you.

And we're going to start by doing a reflection activity.

I'm going to say a sentence from the story with an action, and you're going to be my reflection, you're going to copy me.

I want you to do exactly the same thing that I do.

Okay, my turn first.

Tall hat, short hat, fat hat, thin hats.

You're saying, good job.

Make sure you say the sentence too.

♪ I'm going to market to sell my hats.

♪ You will say, he fell asleep.

You'll say, All his hats were gone.

You'll say, Give me back my hats.

You'll say the monkeys just copied.

You all say he threw down his hat.

I wonder what your favourite moment was to reflect.

My favourite moment was, give me back my hats, because it shows how angry the hat maker was.

Can you tell me in a full sentence now what your favourite moment was.

I think it's nice to notice what we like about things sometimes.

Next, we're going to sing the story because we know how great songs are for helping us remember things.

I've chosen to chew this.

I'm hoping, you know, but if you don't, don't worry, I'm going to teach it to you.

The tune goes like this, ♪ Dah, dah, dah, dah, dah, dah ♪ ♪ Dah, dah, dah, dah, dah, dah ♪ ♪ Dah, dah, dah, dah, dah, dah ♪ Did you recognise that tune? It's the tune of 10 green bottles isn't it? Now I'm going to tell you the lyrics to our song.

I'm going to do one line at a time.

So my tone first, and then you're going to join in with me.

Which means we're going to act it to help with no words, just actions.

Watch me carefully first, because then you're going to have a go.
