Hi everyone.

My name is Ms. Toole, and I love to find out lots of information.

And I like to put my information into stories and different types of text pieces.

In this unit, we have been exploring persuasive advert.

Can you remember why we learned to persuade somebody? That's right, it's to get them to do something we want them to do.

And when we're persuading, we tell them all the amazing things of what they will get or what they will achieve, if they do what we tell them to do.

And our topic, this unit is honey.

Well remembered.

We're persuading somebody to buy my honey.

Let's have a look at what we're going to be doing today.

We're going to have a shared read of our persuasive advert, and then we'll go to explore the text and see what we need to include in each section of our persuasive advert.

So that when we come write our persuasive advert, in the next couple of lessons, we know exactly what we need to include.

So today you are going to need an exercise book or paper, a pencil, and your amazing brain.

So pause the video wow to go and get your resources and press play when you're ready to go.

Before we start I will then say, I want us to have a go at putting the opening song of our persuasive advert to a beat.

Now the beat goes like this.

bum, bum, bum, bum.

So I want you to have a go at home at following along with my beat.

Now you can't speed it up and you can't slow it down.

Bum, bum, bum, bum.

Super.

We're now going to have a go of putting the opening poem to the beat.

Now we'll recap the words of the poem so that you know what it is, and then we'll have a go at putting it all together.

So it goes, roll up, roll up.

Listen everybody, come and buy my honey.

Buy it with your money.

It's really sweet and runny.

Put it in your tummy.

Okay? So we'll do it again.

And then we're going to put it to the beat.

So our beat is It goes like this, roll up, roll up.

How did you do? Did you manage to keep the beat and say the words at the same time? Cause that can be a little bit tricky.

If not, stop, carry on with the beat and then join in when you're ready.

Yeah, have a play around at home so you can go slow, and you can go fast, to create the different beats to retell the starting poem of our persuasive advert.

We are going to be reading our persuasive advert as if we are a writer today.

So we can understand each section and unpack what is needed to make a perfect persuasive advert.

Now, before we start to read, I just want to recap our strategy check.

This helps us when we come a word and we're not too sure what it is.

So the first thing we need to do is look at the sounds and say the sounds.

We can blend the sounds together and say the word.

If the word doesn't make sense, we can go back, read the sentence again and have a think about what that word could be.

Look at the sounds again, say the sounds and blend them all together.

We're going to go through our persuasive advert together now.

And there is a copy in the worksheet section if you would like to print one out and follow it that way.

Or you can follow it on this screen as I read it.

So get your reading finger out and pop it underneath the word, "hello." Hello.

As I read, I would like to follow it over the screen and I may need your help to sound out some of our words.

So are we ready? Let's go together.

Finger on the screen and let's read, Hello everyone, my name is Dr.

S, w, ee, S, w, eet sweet.

Full stop.

I am a honey seller, full stop.

Every Friday I sell my jars of honey at the farmers m, ar, k, et.

Hm, I wonder if you could help me.

M, ar, k, et.

Market, thank you, full stop.

This is what I say to get people to buy my honey.

Roll up, roll up.

Listen everybody.

Come and buy my honey, buy it with your money.

It's really sweet and runny.

Put it in your tummy.

Very well, put it in your tummy.

Now the main purpose of the introduction is to introduce the reader to exactly what you are persuading them to buy.

So in our introduction, the first thing is Dr.

Sweet introduces himself, says, "Hello everyone, My name is Dr.

Sweet" It makes this a bit more personal so that they know.

And then they go on to talk about what they are going to sell.

They want you to buy the honey.

And in our poem, he then uses rhyming words to really engage us and so that we remember the poem.

So it's come and buy my honey, buy it with your money.

It's really sweet and runny.

Put it in your tummy.

So honey, money, runny, tummy.

And he's used the rhyme to engage the people to come and buy their honey and make it interesting.

So the rhyming words in the song make it interesting for the reader.

So the purpose of the introduction is to tell them what you are persuading them to buy.

So we've got the honey and to hook them by being interesting.

So that is what Dr.

Sweet has done in his introduction.

With that, look at our reasons to buy and in a persuasive advert, we usually have three main reasons why you need to do whatever they are persuading you.

And we already know from our box, our three main things are the taste, the reputation and the value.

We'll go and have a look and explore how they describe the three things.

Now I will read it first and then we'll explore it on this.

So reading finger on the screen, let's go.

This is absolutely the best honey in the town.

And let me explain why you should all buy it.

First, it is delicious.

That's a big word.

So have a look at it, delicious.

My honey comes from bees.

Hmm, hmm, n, xt, Next to the field of roses.

My honey tastes of roses.

It is delicious.

So our first reason why is looking at the taste and he's telling you, it tastes of roses.

He brings your attention because in the opening sentence, it's not just any normal honey, it is absolutely the best.

So he's making the honey sound like it is better than any other honey.

So again, the reader's going to want to read on, to find out why is this absolutely the best honey.

First, so it's introducing our first reason why, and we've got the word delicious.

We're telling them it's absolutely the best because it's delicious.

So our first reason why is it's delicious, linked to our taste.

And then we give the reason why it's delicious, it's because the honey tastes of roses.

So we're telling the points and we're giving the reason why it's delicious because the honey tastes of roses.

So that is our first reason.

Ready to read, reading finger on the screen.

Let's go.

Second, it is famous.

Show it to your friends and they will be impressed that you have such an amazing honey.

They will respect you if you buy my honey.

Third, it is great value.

You can buy one jar for five pound or three for just 10 pound 50.

So remember we're looking at our reasons why section now.

So there's usually three reasons.

We've already explored the first.

So it's the taste.

And it says that the taste is delicious because the honey, it tastes like roses.

Now we're going to look at second.

So second, it is famous.

So the second reason, it's telling you straight away, is it's famous.

And your friends are going to be impressed that you have famous honey.

We've got really positive adjectives in there to describe how the honey is, but also how people are going to feel about you.

Amazing honey, again, the adjective to describe the honey.

So it's not just that they're going to be impressed because you've got honey, they're going to be impressed because you've got amazing honey.

We're really, really describing this honey as being the best thing ever.

And again, the final one in our second one is that your friends are going to respect you.

And it's such a positive word that you will think, hmm, if I'm going to impress my friends and then get their respect, I will buy this amazing honey.

So the reason why it's famous is because that people respect you because it's amazing honey.

So I've given the reasons why we are showing them they need to buy the honey.

And then the third, so we've got first reason why is taste, second reason why is reputation, because it's famous.

And then our third reason why is the great value.

So now we're telling them that it's not actually going to cost them that much money if they buy our honey.

And then in a persuasive advert we put two extra reasons, but we don't go into as much detail.

So we have our introduction.

We have our three main reasons why, we had our taste, reputation and the value.

And then we quickly put in two more reasons why they should do it.

So we've got "hurry now." It makes the reader panic and think they must do it straight away.

Hurry now, run out of honey So they need to hurry so that we don't run out of honey and they can't get any honey left.

So that's the first reason.

The first reason you need to do it is because we're going to run out.

And then the second reason is that they're going to need to buy cheap, boring honey.

And they've made the other honey sound rubbish.

They haven't given them the positive adjectives.

"buy cheap boring" So cheap and boring makes that honey sound like it's rubbish.

So it's giving you two extra reasons is you don't want us to run out and you don't want to have to buy cheap and boring honey.

And then our ending we've got our song.

So again, we're finishing on a song like we started with and the song has got buy now, buy now, buy now.

It's got that repetition all the way through, so that the reader thinks I really need to buy it.

And we've also got the rhyme.

Buy now, buy now, buy now and the rhyme we've got late, great, and wait.

So let's have him read, "Buy now before it is too late! "Buy now and you will feel great "Buy now, don't dither or wait." Late, great, wait.

We've got our rhyming again, like we had at the start, but the most important thing is each sentence is starting with buy now, buy now, buy now.

And that repetition really makes the reader think and I really need to go buy this honey.

That's how we can persuade them to go and do it.

So your challenge now is to look at the different sections.

So introduction, three main reasons why, two smaller extra reasons and the ending, and write down the main focus within our persuasive advert and what they need to include.

Because the next lessons in this unit, we are going to be creating our own persuasive advert for a new topic.

So we're not going to be doing it for honey.

We're going to think of a new topic.

So write down, what do we need to include.

So for example, our introduction, we need to introduce ourselves and our product, and we need to hook the reader by doing our song with our rhyming.

And our three main reasons why, we need to be really positive about them, and we need to give lots of adjectives and really convince them why its the main thing.

So you go back now and write down on your piece of paper, everything that we need to include.

And when you've done that you can press play to carry on with today's lesson.

How did you find today's learning challenge? We were able to get all the different aspects of each section ready for writing a fantastic persuasive advert in the next part of this unit.

Now to finish today's lesson, I would like us to create a new beat, but this time we're not going to do the opening poem.

We'll go into the poem from the end of our persuasive advert.

So this is the new beat.
