Hi everyone, my name's Miss Toole, and I love to retell stories.
I also enjoy retelling information, adverts, persuasive, all the different text types that we have.
Let's have a look at what we're going to be doing today.
We're going to listen to the persuasive advert again.
We're going to create a persuasive map using the advert.
And then we're going to have a go at stepping and speaking through the persuasive map.
So today you're going to need a exercise book or paper, preferably plain paper today, but don't worry if not, a pencil and your amazing brain.
Pause the video now to go and get your resources and then press play once you are ready to carry on.
Before we start today's learning we're going to sing a song together and we're going to sing Our Yummy Honey to London's Bennett.
So I go, you go over the words and then we'll do our actions.
Are you ready? ♪ Yummy honey ♪ ♪ Yummy honey ♪ ♪ You will like it ♪ ♪ You will like it ♪ ♪ It tastes so good ♪ ♪ Come and buy some ♪ ♪ Come and buy some ♪ Super! Let's put it all together.
Are we ready? One, two, three.
♪ Yummy honey, Yummy honey ♪ ♪ You will like it, you will like it ♪ ♪ It tastes so good ♪ ♪ Come and buy some, come and buy some ♪ Did you enjoy that? Let's put some actions to our singing now.
So we're going to go ♪ Yummy honey, yummy honey ♪ ♪ You will like it, you will like it ♪ ♪ It tastes so good ♪ ♪ Come and buy some, come and buy some ♪ Are we ready? One, two, three.
♪ Yummy honey, yummy honey ♪ ♪ You will like it, you will like it ♪ ♪ It tastes so good ♪ ♪ Come and buy some, come and buy some.
♪ Amazing! Thank you for joining in with me and have a go at home singing our words and maybe changing the actions.
Before we start drawing our persuasive map, I would like us to have a go at retelling our persuasive advert.
I'm going to have a go and I would like to see if you could join in with me.
So we need to get into the role of Dr.
Sweet ready to sell his delicious honey.
Are we ready? Hello everyone, My name is Dr Sweet.
I am a honey seller.
Every Friday I sell my jars of honey at the farmer's market.
This is what I say to get people to buy my honey, Roll up, roll up, listen everybody, come and buy my honey, Buy it with your money, it's really sweet and runny.
Put it in your tummy.
This is absolutely the best honey in the town and let me explain why you should all buy it, First, it's delicious.
My honey comes from bees next to a field of roses.
My honey tastes of roses, it's delicious.
Second, it is famous, Show it to your friends and they will be impressed that you have such amazing honey.
They will respect you for buying my honey.
Third, it's great value.
You can buy one for five pounds, or three jars for 10 pound 50.
Hurry now, before I run out of honey and you'll have to buy boring honey from the supermarket.
Buy now, before it's too late.
Buy now, and you will feel great.
Buy now, don't dither or wait.
How did you find that? Did you remember some of our persuasive words to get people to buy our honey? If not, don't worry, because we're going to practise all this lesson, so by the end you'll be able to retell Buy My Honey, all on your own.
Now that we've recapped a persuasive text, we're going to have a go at mapping it down.
So to start with, we're going to put a circle for the first section.
And every time we do a section, we'll draw a circle.
Now the first part is introductions.
We'll put an I down for introduction.
So introduction we tell everybody that we're a honey seller.
Dr.
Sweet is a honey seller.
And every- remember what day it is? Every Friday, goes down to the farmers market to sell his honey.
And this is what he sings to get people to buy his honey.
So I've done two little stringy marks little marks Roll up, roll up, listen, everybody.
So I'm going to draw an ear for listening.
Come and buy my honey.
Draw a picture of honey.
Buy it with your money.
Draw some coins for money.
It's really sweet and runny.
Put it in your tummy.
I'm just going to draw a picture of the tummy with a belly button there.
And then we do an arrow to the next section.
And that is the taste we'll talk about the taste of the honey.
So I'm going to draw a mouth, because that's the taste.
Firstly.
Lets do number one.
It's delicious.
My honey comes from bees.
So we're going to draw a picture of a bee.
Next to a field of roses.
So I've got my field, and we're going to draw a rose.
My honey taste of roses It's-, can you remember the words you use to describe it? It's delicious.
I'm going to write out the word delicious.
Lovely.
Now we're going to move on to the next section.
So, our next section, focuses on it being famous.
It's reputation.
So we're going to draw it.
Reputation means what other people think of it.
And they all say that it's famous.
And we're going to do a star, to show that it's famous.
So second, put a number two.
It is famous, show it to your friends.
So here are my friends.
They will be impressed that you have such amazing- honey.
Draw our honey.
And they will respect you if you buy my honey.
So we're going to write the word respect.
We've got our key words here.
Delicious, respect.
On to our next section I'll draw an arrow.
And then the circle.
And this section is value.
So looking at the cost.
So I'm going to do a pound sign and some coins for that one.
Third, it is great value.
You can buy one jar.
Let me draw one jar of honey, for five pounds.
Or, three jars.
So we're going to draw three jars of honey.
For 10 pound 50.
That is very good value for money.
at 10 pound 50.
And then an arrow up to our final section.
And our final section is the ending.
So draw a circle with a line through it to show it's the ending.
So we end by saying hurry now.
So do some hurry signs, before I run out of honey.
So I've got my honey but with a big cross through it.
Running out of honey, and you'll have to buy cheap, boring honey from the supermarket.
So I'm going to write the word boring, another one of our keywords.
And then we end on a little song.
So I've done the two musical notes, and then the song is, buy now, before it's too late.
So we'll put a watch on to show that's it's too late.
Buy now, and you will feel great.
So I'll do a thumbs up.
Buy now, don't dither and wait.
So I got a cross.
For our five sections, to show our persuasive advert.
Pause the video now, and have a go at doing your own persuasive map.
Let's have a go at stepping through our persuasive map.
So the first thing we need is our actions for our different sections.
So we have introduction, then we have taste.
So we are going to point at out mouth, for the taste.
Then we've got famous.
And we've got value.
And the final one is ending.
Now I am going to step in spot.
You can step across the room, just make sure and adult has checked that the area is safe so that you don't hurt yourself.
Okay? So let's step through the five sections.
First are we ready? Once more we'll do it together Are we ready? One, two, three.
Now pause the video and have a go stepping through the five things first.
When you've done that press play and we'll have a go at stepping through the whole persuasive map.
Okay? Well done.
Now that we've stepped through the five sections, we've got step through the five sections but also do an action for each part of our persuasive map.
So I'll go, I'll model it.
And then I want you to have a go at home.
You can use my actions, which is fine.
Or, you might want to challenge yourself and create your own actions to step through our persuasive map.
And the reason we do this is because it helps us remember the different parts of our persuasive map.
And in the end it will make us fantastic writers of a persuasive advert.
So are we ready? The first part is our introduction.
So we're going to introduce ourselves.
We're going to say that we sell honey.
And then we're going to do an action for our songs.
So it goes: Listen everybody, come and buy my honey.
It's really sweet and runny.
Put it in your tummy.
Okay.
Should we do the first one again? So it's introduction.
My name.
I sell honey.
Now our song: Roll up, roll up, listen everybody, come and buy my honey.
It's really sweet and runny.
Put it in your tummy.
Then we'll go into step for our next one.
Taste.
And then our honey comes from bees, next to a field of roses, so our honey tastes of roses.
Okay? So our second one is: Taste.
Honey comes from bees, next to a field of roses, so our honey tastes of roses.
Okay? Next one.
Second.
Famous.
Show it to your friends and they'll be really impressed.
Let's do it again.
Two, one.
Famous.
Show it to your friends, and they'll be really impressed.
Amazing.
And then the last one is our value.
So we're going to go, value.
And then the final one is our ending.
So we step, ending.
And we're going to do it So that's the Buy now, before it's too late.
Buy now, you will feel great.
Buy now, don't dither and wait.
Okay.
Have a go now.
Pause what you're doing and go back if you want to.
Watch a different sections and see if you can have a go at stepping through our map.
When you've done that, press play and we'll go and have a go at stepping and speaking so we're going to be doing our actions and speaking our persuasive advert.
Off you go.
Now that you've had a go at stepping through, we're going to step and speak so at the same time of doing our actions.
I want you to have a go at saying the words, okay? So let's go.
I'll go first.
I'll model then you can do at home.
You can do the same as me, or like before you can challenge yourself and do it a little bit different.
Are we ready? Introduction.
