Hello everybody, it is me, Miss McCartney, and I am really looking forward to today's lesson, because we are going to take our recycled story map, that we created in lesson one of unit 11.

And we are going to retell the story.

I cannot wait to hear all about your new settings.

In this lesson you will need a piece of paper or something to write on, a pencil or something to write with and your wonderful creative brain.

You will also need the story map that we created in lesson one of unit 11, because that will really help you in today's lesson.

If you need to go and get any of those things, pause your video now.

Excellent, let's have a look at what we are going to be doing today.

You are going to listen to my recycled version of the story with our three new settings.

Then you are going to have a go at speaking the story yourself from your map, you are then going to tell the story with some clear actions.

Then you are going to speak the story again.

But this time you are going to try and not use your map and at the end we are going to plot some moods on to our map.

So, as you listen to my recycled story, what do you notice about the moods? As you listen I would like you to keep that question in your head.

I am going to tell you my recycled version of the story, the marriage of Ganesh.

Listen carefully and see if you can hear any of the new locations.

The marriage of Ganesh.

Elephant-headed Ganesh was sat in the palace gardens.

He was dipping his feet in the pond and watching all of his fish.

All of a sudden his brother Kartikeya darted into the gardens.

"Brother, brother, I have something really exciting to tell you," he exclaimed.

"I have heard about a wonderful princess named Buddhi.

She is wise, intelligent and eloquent.

I would love to throw her a feast to celebrate her and her family." Ganesh sat back in his chair.

"Hmm, interesting brother," he said, "because I also admire Buddhi and have heard all about her wonderful actions in our community.

I would like to throw her a feast too." Kartikeya stepped his foot on the ground.

"It was my idea first!" "And now," said Ganesh, "it is my idea too." Kartikeya thought with a frown on his face.

"Hmm, how about we fight and the winner gets to host the feast?" "No, no, no," said Ganesh, "You are the god of war, that would be really silly." So Kartikeya had another think.

"I've got an idea," he said, "How about we race around the world and the person that gets back to the palace gardens the quickest gets to host the feast?" Ganesh thought, looking into the distance.

"Hmm, race around the world.

Can I do it in any way that I choose?" "Yes," said Kartikeya.

So Ganesh agreed.

Kartikeya shouted out, "One, two, three!" and then he darted off.

He splashed into the sea, and he swam and he swam all the way to the bottom, where he met a big giant fish who had really sharp teeth, and a light hanging off his head.

It was terrifying.

Kartikeya carried on swimming, but still he did not see his brother Ganesh.

Before long, he had jumped up out of the water, and was soon in the Amazon rainforest, where he saw panthers and other terrifying creatures.

Once he had passed through the forest, he then arrived all the way to London, and came to Buckingham palace where the Queen lives.

He popped past the Queen and he bowed, and he said, "Good day, Ma'am." But he did not wait long.

He jumped off of the UK to another island and swam between islands and he met fish, sharks and dolphins on his travel.

But before long he had bounded all the way over the top of the earth, passing Russia, where he met a buffalo, who told him lots of interesting stories, but he could not wait long.

For soon he found himself in a very different location.

He found himself in a boiling hot desert.

He trolled over the sand dunes, and it took hours and hours and hours.

Eventually, he swam between islands again, passing different fish, different dolphins and different sharks.

He then arrived breathless back at the palace gardens, where he found Ganesh sitting back in his chair just as he had been before.

But this time he noticed Ganesh also had the books from his library beside him.

"Have you really raced all around the world?" demanded Kartikeya.

"Of course I have!" said Ganesh.

"Prove it!" demanded Kartikeya.

So Ganesh retold the story all about the deep dark sea, Buckingham Palace, the Amazon rainforest, the desert, the buffalo.

So Kartikeya had to accept defeat.

A few days later, Ganesh hosted the feast for Buddhi and her family.

And it just so happened that he got to know Buddhi and she admired him just as much as he admired her.

And on the most beautiful day of the year, they were married.

At the marriage celebrations, Kartikeya could be seen pacing up and down.

When he saw his brother, he approached him.

"Did you really travel to all those countries and raced around the world?" asked Kartikeya.

"Yes, I did," said Ganesh, "But I had my books from my library in the palace garden and instead of running and swimming around the world, I read all about the different countries." Kartikeya thought and his face got redder.

"Don't you think that's cheating?" he said.

Oh, I love telling the story with our new locations.

I would like you to get your story map and I would like you to have a go at retelling the story in your own words.

I cannot wait to hear your story later.

We are now going to have a go at stepping the story.

So you will need a little bit of space.

I'm going to move all the way back.

Now I'm not going to step at the beginning of the story, because you know that part really well.

I am going to start at the point where Kartikeya goes into the deep sea.

Hmm, what action could I show? Remember when you just heard the story that Kartikeya met the fish with the light on his head? That is going to be my step four under the sea down in the depths.

So I'm going to show you that one now.

Actually, I need a bit more of a scary face, because he's a really scary fish.

Okay, that is my step number one, so I'm going to step forward.

Next, he went into the Amazon rainforest, so I am going to pretend to be a tree.

Okay, let's practise my first two steps.

So I have got.

Okay, the next place he visits his Buckingham Palace, so I am going to pretend to be the Queen with my crown, that is my step number three.

Okay, let's practise.

First step.

So those are my three steps.

I would like you to get your story map and you are going to step your story.

I am just going to show you some different things that I would like you to do but before you do that.

You are going to use your map to step the story, but first, I have got some top tips: you need to have a really clear action, you need to step into the next part of the story.

And you can use your eyes to communicate your message.

So pause the video now and step your story.

Excellent work, everybody! I was watching and I could see some really clear actions and steps.

Fantastic! Later on, perhaps, you would like to show somebody in your house your stepping of the story.

And our final part of the lesson today, you are going to speak the story, but this time you are going to have your magic microphone.

Mine is spotty and glittery and you are going to try and do it without your map, okay? So I am going to show you the first section at the palace with Kartikeya and Ganesh.

The Marriage of Ganesh.

Elephant-headed Ganesh was sat relaxing in the palace gardens.

He had his feet dipping into the pond water, and he was watching all of his fish swim leisurely.

All of a sudden, Kartikeya darted in and shouted, "Brother, brother, I have some exciting news." I am now going to pass the microphone to you and I would like you to tell the rest of your story.

Make sure you use different voices to create different moods.

You can leave a pause for effect, so if something really scary or dramatic happens, you can wait before you carry on.

And I would like you to match your facial expression to the mood of the story.

Excellent pronunciation, everybody! I am so impressed.

We are going to give ourselves some microphone shine.

So you can hold your microphone and if yourself some shine at the same time to make yourself feel all warm and fuzzy, because you have done such a great job.

Fantastic learning! We are now going to start thinking about mapping mood on our story map.

So I have some words on my screen.

My turn, your turn, exhilarating, your turn, disappointing, your turn, terrifying, your turn, mysterious, your turn, awesome, your turn, treacherous, your turn.

I would like you to pause the video now and have a look at what all of those different words mean.

Then you are going to use the sentence stem.

The word I would use to describe the mood at my new location is, because I am going to say the word I would use to describe the mood at my location of under the sea is treacherous, because there are some really scary dangerous animals.

Pause your video now and think about which of the moods match your new location.

Great use of sentence stems, everybody.

We are now going to have a look at our maps.

And we are going to write some of our words on to our maps so that we know the mood of the story.

And when we come to write about our story later, it will help us.

Okay, we are now going to map the mood on our story map.

So I am going to look at my first new location, and that is under the sea, so I am going to write the word treacherous, because I think it would be really dangerous and scary with those deep sea creatures.

Can you pause your video now and write down the mood at your first location? Okay, we are going to our second new location.

My location is Buckingham Palace.

What is your location? And the mood I am going to say is awesome.

It is so exciting that we get to meet the Queen, so I think the mood is awesome.

Now I am going to look at my third new location and think about the mood here.

Now we have the beating sun and we have the sand dunes and I know that it would be really, really hot.

So what word could I use for my mood? Hm.

I am going to use the word exhausting.
