Geography

Pupils will use atlases, maps and globes to develop their locational knowledge of the world. Pupils will focus in on specific places to develop an awareness of how geographers examine place. OS maps and GIS will be used alongside fieldwork to build pupils' procedural knowledge.

Geography: what makes a geographer?

This unit teaches pupils about the changing size and distribution of the world's population and how these can be affected by factors such as migration. Through examining a range of examples, pupils will develop an understanding of how countries react to different population challenges.

Population: where do people live?

This unit teaches pupils how physical and human processes shape our coastline. Pupils will also learn about the threats and challenges coastlines face in a warming world.

Coasts: what shapes life at the coast?

This unit teaches pupils about the distribution of forest biomes around the world. Pupils will learn about how humans interact with forests and the challenges that can result. Pupils will also learn how humans seek to manage forests to ensure a sustainable future for the biome and the wider world.
