Hi everybody, it's Mr. Palekar here, and welcome back to our music lesson on body percussion.
In today's lesson we are going to be developing your skills a little bit further.
We are going to practise the pat click clap groove.
We are going to look at something called the grid.
We're going to start making up some of our own body percussion pieces.
We're going to learn a new type of song, which is called "Bim Bum Biddy," great name.
And we are finishing off today with Mr. Palekar's musical challenge.
That's going to be a reading of body percussion sounds.
Now for this lesson, you will need some headphones, if you have some.
If you don't have some or you prefer not to, that's absolutely fine.
Just make sure that you are somewhere where you can concentrate and won't be disturbed by other people.
You'll need a pencil and some paper, if you would like to make some notes.
And finally, you will need your hands and yourself, your bodies for body percussion.
Let's get started.
The pat click clap groove.
Now just like last time, we were using our hands and our laps.
I'm going to use my table 'cause it's a little bit higher up.
And our clicks for our pat click clap groove.
It looks something like this.
One, two, three, here I go.
There's a lot going on in that piece, So let's break it down one more time before we go on to my extension to this task.
Here we go.
So there are three parts to this piece, if you remember.
Number one, my turn and then your turn.
First part, pat, click, clap, your turn.
My turn, pat, click, clap, your turn.
Good.
Our third part is also really, really easy.
It goes, clap, clap.
Try it, ready, here you go.
One more time, one, two, three, here we go.
Easy, brilliant.
It's our second part which has got all of the juicy fun stuff, which is sandwiched in between number one and number three.
Number two goes like this.
We use our right hand, we go with our pats, right, left, right click.
Can you try that with me? One, two, off we go, right, left, right click.
And then when we have our hand in the air here, we use our left hand and we go, left pat, right pat, left click.
Let's try that again.
Remember we are starting with our right hand.
One, two, off we go.
Let's go again, ready, one, two, off we go.
Good.
A little bit faster, off we go.
Good, one more time, ready, here we go.
Good, last time, and here we go.
Good.
Let's put part number one and number two together.
And it looks and sounds like this.
One, two, three, here we go.
Let's try it really slowly.
A one, a two, a one, two, three, here we go.
Now, pat, click, clap, right, left, right click, left, right, left click.
And one more time at that speed, no faster.
One, two, three, here we go.
Now pat, click, clap, right, left, right click, left, right, left click.
Last time together, one, two, three, here we go.
Now, pat, click, clap.
Right, left, right click, left, right, left click.
Good, and we know how to finish this off.
Clap, clap, good.
Let's see if we can go all the way through our piece from beginning to end, one time.
Here we go, one, two, ready, one, two, three, here we go.
Pat, click, clap.
One more time, a little bit slower.
One, two, three, here we go.
Pat, click, clap.
Good, and again, ready, one, two, three, here we go.
Good, we're going to loop it and we're going to do it again and again and again.
I might get faster, see if you can join me.
One, two, start slow.
One, two, three, here we go.
Now pat, click, clap.
Get faster now, here we go.
A bit faster.
Freeze.
Good, really, really, really well done.
Now you may have noticed that at the end of my two rounds, sometimes I do a long clap.
Sometimes I do two claps.
Sounds like this.
So it could be.
Or.
You can decide which one you want to do.
I like to do one at the end, but you can do two if you want.
So it sounds like this, two times at the end, the first time and one time at the end, the last time.
Listen really, really closely.
One, two, three, here we go.
One, two.
One.
Let's try it together, hands at the ready.
A one, a two, all ready, one, two, three, here we go.
Just one time this time.
And again, pat.
One, two, good.
Just once.
Freeze, really, really well done.
Now, here is my challenge for today.
You might remember a piece called "Boom snap clap." It sounded like this.
♪ Boom, snap, clap, boom, snap, clap, snap ♪ ♪ Boom, snap, clap, boom, snap, shh ♪ ♪ Boom, snap, clap, boom, snap, clap, snap ♪ ♪ Boom, snap, clap, boom, snap, shh ♪ We're going to layer both of our pieces together.
So we're going to have our pack, click, clap groove going on and on and on and on.
And over that, at the same time, we're going to have a second person doing our boom, snap, clap, boom, snap, clap, snap.
Let's see how it sounds.
So I'm in position, I'm going to be doing my pat click clap groove all the way through and I'm going to continue to do that.
And I'm going to be doing the.
♪ Boom, snap, clap, boom, snap, clap, snap ♪ ♪ Boom, snap, clap, boom snap, shh ♪ By listening really carefully and over the top.

Can you count to eight? I really hope so because we're going to need that in this activity here.
Try counting to eight with me.
Let's tap the pulse on our chest.

Now one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, good.

Let me show you the grid.
The grid looks like this.
Now these eight numbers are eight beats and we're going to put a type of body percussion on some of those beats.
Let's see if we can do one.
So let's have a clap on number one.
