Hi everybody.
My name is Mr. Palekar and welcome back to our music lessons.
Now in today's lesson, we are going to recap "Lil' Liza Jane," we are going to explore some music which has three beats in a bar, we're going to clap to the pulse of the music which has three beats in a bar, and we're going to learn a brand new piece which has three beats in a bar.
Now for this lesson, you will need some headphones if you have some.
If you don't, don't panic, just make sure you are somewhere where you can concentrate and where you won't be distracted.
You'll need a pencil and paper if you would like to take any notes, and you would need some of these, your hands, your bodies and your voices as well.
Let's get started with "Lil' Liza Jane." Let's see if we can remember how it looks and how it sounds.

And if you remember back to last lesson, we have two beats in every single bar.

We added a clap to our first beat of the bar.
Can you remember what that first beat is called? It's called our downbeat and our downbeat is our strong beat.
It's always number one.
It's going to be one , two one , two , one , two one , two , one , two Okay, let's see if we can read it all the way through and count the one and the two.
Remember that the first beat, the downbeat, it needs to be clapped a little bit harder.

Remember to look at where the claps and the clicks are.
Remember the click is that star and the clap is our hands.

Time Signatures: three beats in a bar.
So far, we've looked at a number of different time signatures.
That means a number of beats in a bar, so, let's have a look.
We've got our four beats in a bar because we've got our four heartbeats.
Our first beat is a little bit bigger because we would clap harder on that downbeat, but let's make it into three beats in a bar.
Okay so I've got my three heartbeats and I've got my bar underneath.
Okay, well, now we have four bars, four of those boxes.
And remember what they're separated by.
They are bar lines.
Bar lines.
We have our bars and we have our bar lines and each of the bars has three beats.
Let's add in our clap on the downbeat and for the weaker beats two and three, we are going to click.
So it will sound like this.
One , two , three , one , two , three , one , two , three , one , two , three.
Try it with me.

Now don't worry if you can't click.
Clap is absolutely fine as well.

Remember to clap that downbeat a little bit harder and you can call out number one a little bit louder as well.

Now we can get rid of those heartbeats.
Why? Because we know that every single bar has three beats.
So we're going to put the number three at the very start of our music.

Make sure that you clap a little bit harder on that first, on that downbeat of every single bar.
Now every piece of music has three beats in a bar so let's see if you can find it a bit faster than I can.

So we know that that means that we are going to clap on the downbeat.
We know the clap on that first beat.
Beats two and three, we are going to click.

But we also know that we don't need those heartbeats above our bars.
We know that there are three beats in every bar, so let's take them away and put a number three at the beginning of our music.
