Hello and welcome, students.

So now we're coming to the end of this unit on the Islam and practises, and there's two final lessons for us to do.

So today in this lesson, we're going to be revising, so a lot of true or false, multiple choice questions, we're visiting a lot of key terms and key parts of our learning as well.

So as always, there's five things that you'll need, please ensure that you have your line paper or exercise, book, a different colour pen for any corrections, a black or blue pen as well, we can't be forgetting that, there's attentive ears and that curious brain.

Now, once you have those five things, let's get into our learning for today.

Welcome to this lesson on revision and to be honest, most of this lesson will be revisiting, revising, or effecting what we learned so far and to learn some key quotations and make them to link them to certain beliefs.

So we're going to have lots of multiple choice questions, a lot of true or false, a lot in terms of filling the gaps and in many tasks revise and to revisit our learning that we've done so far.

So please ensure that you have the following five things for today's lesson.

If you don't have them, this is a great opportunity for you to pause the video, to get them.

But if you have them, let's continue on.

So let's start off.

We're going to have some quick fire questions and there's four choices.

So there's two ways you can do this.

Number one, you can either write down a question and then write down the answer.

Or number two, you can just write down the answer.

So for each of these questions, I'm going to give you five seconds.

So the first one, in which month does Ashura occur? Is it Dhu al-Hijjah, is it Muharram, is it Ramadan, or is it Shawwal? Five seconds, let's go.

And the answer that you should've had is the month of Muharram, a very sacred and important month.

Next question.

How many daily prayers are there? Is it one, is it three, is it five, or is it seven? And you've got five seconds.

And the answer that you should've had is the five daily prayers.

And remember the Salah is the second after the five pillars of Islam.

Next question.

What percentage is given for Zakah? Is it 2.

5%, is it 2%, Is it 3%, or is it 25%? And the answer that you should have had is 2.

5% and remember, it's of your savings, not your earnings.

Next question.

What key belief is found in the Shahadah? Is it angels, is it heaven and hell, is it Qur'an, or is it good Tawhid? Five seconds.

And the answer that you should have had is Tawhid, the oneness of god.

There is no god but Allah and prophet Muhammad is the final messenger of Allah.

So key thing there, the first part, the Shahadah links to Tawhid, the oneness of God.

Next question.

Who died on the 10th of Muharram? Was it Ali, was it Hassan, was it Husayn, or what is Muhammad? And the answer that you should have had is Husayn.

Remember, he's the grandson of the prophet and there's a tragic event in which Yazid's army killed him and his followers.

And the answer that you should have had is two.

There are two ids in Islamic calendar.

Next question.

And the answer that you should have had is permissible.

It means to be permissible, permissible, or lawful, and Hala is also considered something, not only of dietary needs, but of actions as well.

Next question.

What does this term Khalifah mean? Is it prophet, authority, vice-regent or steward, or none of the above? Five seconds.

And the answer that you should have had is vice-regent or steward.

Now remember, Muslims are reminded that they are cleavers of the earth, so they should treat their environment well and to look after it.

Next question.

Which id comes first? Is it Ashura, Id ul-Fitr, Hajj, or Id ul-Adha? Which of the four? Five seconds.

And the answer that you should have had is Id ul-Fitr.

It's after the month of Ramadan.

Next question.

What prophet and his people were saved from the evil Pharaoh? Was it Dawud, was it Khidr, was it Muhammad, or was it Musa? And the answer that you should have had his Musa.

Next question.

Remember, it was the Battle of Karbala as well.

What animal is haram to eat? Is it a pig, a cow, a goat, or a camel? And the answer that you should've had is a pig.

It's mentioned in the Qur'an that swine is haram And it's deemed as a filthy animal as well.

Next question.

What term refers to the slaughter which then 1/3 is donated to the poor or donated to charity? Is it Qurbani, is it Qurtubi, is it Halal, or is it Sawn? Which one out of the four.

Five seconds.

And the answer that you should have had is Qurbani.

And remember, this is done at the second id, Id ul-Adha.

Next question.

What month does Sawm occur in? Is it Shawwal, Ramadan, Ashura, or Dhu ul-Hijjah? And the answer is Ramadan.

And remember, this is a very sacred and very holy month 'cause it's the month in which the first revelation of the Qur'an occurred.

And we also find the night known as Laylat al Qadr which are nights of power.

How many pillars are there in Islam? You should get this one in like one second.

You have five, six, one, or three.

And of course we know the answer is there's five pillars in Islam and we've learned them.

We did the Shahadah, Salah, Hajj, Zakah, and Sawm.

Yeah, I've done it in a different order there as in terms of what you've been learning over the course of the last few weeks.

Okay, now let's move on to some true and false.

I'm going to disappear for just a moment, but I will read out the questions as always, and then go over the answer with you as well.

So let's look at some true or false.

First one, true or false, Sunnis fast on Ashura? You've got five seconds.

And the answer is true.

Remember, they fast on Ashura as it's sunnah to do so.

Next question.

Fajr is the third prayer, true or false.

And this is false.

Fajr is the first prayer out of five prayers daily.

And the answer is true.

Remember, it's obligatory to do so if it's in your means to do so as well.

The Qur'an mentions the teachings of Khalifah, true or false.

And the answer is true.

The Qur'an does mention the concept of Khalifa and it reminds Muslims of our vice-regents of Allah on this earth.

Next question.

Halal only refers to dietary needs, true or false.

And the answer is false.

Halal doesn't refer just to dietary needs, it refers to actions as well.

Next question.

And the answer is false.

it must be facing the Qibla, which is the direction of the house of Allah known as the Ka'bah, which is in Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

Next question.

Muslims worship one God, true or false.

And your answer is true.

Of course, we know this.

It's been in the Shahadah and is a key fundamental part of Islam known as Tawhid.

The Shahadah should be said just before you die, true or false.

And the answer is true.

This should be the last thing that a Muslim utters before they die, dying on the testimony of faith declaring that they believe in one God and the prophet Muhammad is a messenger of Allah.

Zakah is not compulsory, true or false.

And the answer is false.

It is compulsory, an obligatory upon all Muslims, if they're able to do so.

And it's an act of worship.

Sawm generally lasts for 29 or 30 days, true or false.

And this is true.

A Muslim will fast for each of those days in the month of Ramadan abstaining from food, drink, and bad habits during sunlight hours.

Sawm is from 8:00 a.

m.

to 12:00 p.

m.

, true or false.

This is false because it's a lunar calendars so it depends on how long the sun is up depending on where you are.

So it's not a fixed time each year.

Laylat al Qadr is the Night Journey, true or false.

And this is false.

It is not the Night Journey.

Laylat al Qadr means the nights of power.

So how did you do for your true or false? If you get the opportunity to do so, please tally up and let me know at the end of the lesson when you share your work with your parent, or carer, to see how you did.

Now, for this task, a really simple task, it's reflecting on the five pillars.

So for this task, I'd like for you to do the following, to match up the key terms with which pillar it is.

And once I disappear, you may pause the video and I'll see you in five minutes.

Welcome back.

How did we do? So you should have had the following: Shahadah is a testimony of faith.

And remember, said in Arabic.

There's no God but Allah and the prophet Muhammad is his final messenger.

It's part of the birthright, it's part of when someone wants to convert to Islam, they said in the adhan, which is the call to prayer.

And it should be said when a Muslim dies.

Salah which means prayer, which is the second of the pillars.

There are five prayers a day and Muslims are reminded to reflect and to remember God five times a day.

And there is the wudu, that is done before and links also to the Shahadah when I mentioned that of the adhan.

Sawm, the act of fasting that we find in Ramadan abstaining from food and drink and bad habits during sunlight hours.

And this is done as an act of obedience, of worship to Allah to which only Allah knows the reward in the hereafter.

Zakah which is that which purifies in which Muslims give 2.

5% of their savings once a year to help the collective ummah and to help the poor and needy, only if they meet the nisab amount which is the required amount.

And the Hajj, the pilgrimage to Makkah to visit the house of Allah known as the Ka'bah for many rituals which link to the life of prophet Ibrahim and it's also sunnah to do so 'cause the prophet Muhammad did it as well.

So they are the five pillars now.

Now let's continue on.

What I'd like for you to do now is to write that paragraph.

What is Salah? And for this task, there's a word bank there just at the bottom.

And I would like for you to explain what Salah is and why is it important for Muslims. So if you've done a Salah lesson, this may seem quite similar.

Please ensure they don't look back at your notes and trying to fresh from memory as part of good reversion.

And once I disappear, boom, there you go, you may pause the video and I'll see you in 10 minutes.

Welcome back.

Let's go over our answers together.

So if there's any corrections you need to make, please ensure that you do.

Salah is one of the five pillars of Islam.

It is the second pillar of Islam and the most important.

It links to the Shahadah as it shows that Muslims are submitting to Allah alone.

Salah means prayer or supplication.

Muslims are obliged to pray five times a day at different times.

It is a physical and spiritual action in which Muslims perform the wudu washing ritual before they pray.

At this time, it enables Muslims to shut off from the Duniya, meaning the world, and focus on communication with Allah.

Muslims face the Qibla before praying and also aim to have the right Niyyah and Taqwa.

Niyyah meaning attention.

Taqwa meaning god-consciousness.

Salah helps Muslims to avoid sinning and to seek Allah's help.

And Muslims follow the Rakat in their prayer, which is a set of physical unit of movement.

Rakat varies depending on the prayer.

So vast range of different key terms there, a vast range of different parts of the prayer, before you pray, how it is done, and the purpose of the prayer as well.

So if there's anything that you need to add, please ensure you do and you pause the video as I disappear.

If not, let's continue on.

And we are now continuing on for the following tasks.

Now I would like for you to write down these quotations.

And I'd like for you to match them up with the five different pillars that you have.

So for this task, I like to give you 10 minutes.

So could I please ask you to pause the video just now? And I'll see you in 10 minutes.

Welcome back.

So the answer that you should have had is the following.

Zakah expenditures are only for the poor and needy and for those employed to collect Zakah and for bringing the hearts together for Islam.

That is part of that verse, just to let you know.

But we know that verse links to Zakah which is the act of which purifies one's wealth.

Indeed prayer has been decreed upon the believers a decree of specified times.

This refers to Salah, the second prayer, the second pillar, which is prayer.

Purify my house for those who perform the Tawaf and those staying there for worship.

Tawaf which is a ritual act which has done at the start and at the end of the Hajj.

There is no God but Allah and the prophet Muhammad is his final messenger.

This is the Shahadah, the testimony of faith.

And we finish with the following.

O you who believe, fasting has been prescribed to you as it was prescribed for those before you so that you may develop god-consciousness.

And that is Sawm.

So hopefully you absolutely aced that task in terms of those key quotations and the links it has to the five pillars.

If there's any corrections that you need to make, please ensure that you do before moving on.

So a final push, a final true or false.

Let's get into it.

Let's get ready, those attentive ears and that curious brain, and let's see how we do.

Let's do it, let's do it, let's do it.

So Id ul-Fitr follows the Sunnah, true or false.

Three seconds.

And the answer is, it is true.

The prophet Muhammad practised the Id ul-Fitr.

Next question.

Id ul-Adha is at the end of Dhu al-Hijjah, true or false.

And the answer is false.

It is not at the end of Dhu al-Hijjah.

It's a the end of the Hajj.

Next question.

There is an id prayer, true or false.

And the answer is true.

There is an id prayer which is of two rakats.

Next question.

Gifts are not given on Id ul-Fitr, true or false.

And the answer is false.

Gifts are given on Id ul-Fitr as it's a festival of celebration.

Next question.

Muharram is not a sacred month, true or false.

And the answer is false.

It is a very sacred month for many different reasons.

It's the month in which there is the Ashura which is the two events, which are the death and the martyrdom of Husayn and also the day in which Sunni Muslims fast to remember when Moses was free from the Pharaoh and the commission of.

Husayn and his followers killed Yazid's army, true or false.

And it is false.

Yazid's army killed Husayn and his followers at the Battle of Karbala.

Next question.

There's only two ids, true or false.

And it is true, there's only two ids.

Id ul-Fitr and Id ul-Adha.

Next question.

Sunni and Shi'a remember Ashura differently, true or false.

And it is true.

Remember, for Shi'a, there's a big emphasis on the death of the grandson of the prophet Muhammad and this Arba'een which is a pilgrimage to Karbala.

Haram is not mentioned that Qur'an, true or false.

And it is false.

It is mentioned clearly in the Qur'an, what is Halal and what is Haram.

Bismillah prayer must be set over the animal before the Halal slaughter, true or false.

And the answer is true.

And this reminds Muslims that everything is from God.

Shi'a do not mourn the death of Husayn, true or false.

This is false.

They do more the death of Husayn.

Id ul-Adha remembers that life of prophet Ibrahim, true or false.

And it is true, especially the Qurbani, the sacrifice of Ishmael which is then replaced with a ram or a goat.

The sacrifice is known as a haram slaughter, true or false.

And it is false.

It's known as a halal slaughter.

Any knife can be used to slaughter the animal, true or false.

And it is false.

It must be a sharp blade.

And the reason for that is so it's a quick death.

Sunnis fast on Ashura, true or false.

And this is true.

And it's sunnah to do so.

Pork is halal, true or false.

And it is false.

It is forbidden to eat except in a situation where it's life or death.

And on that note, we've finished off our revision lesson.

And there's one more lesson left in this unit on Islam practises.

And as always, there's an opportunity for you to share your work.

So please ensure that you do get permission from your parent or carer.

And one final thing as always, please ensure that you do the quiz at the end.

There's five more questions for you to do.

And on that note, well done for you, fantastic hard revision.

I'll be really interested to know how you tallied up on your true and false.

And I will see you soon, take care.
