- Hello again, it's me, Mrs. Wade! This is our second lesson together, and today we're going to look at our rights.

Let's get started.

In the first part of this lesson, you're going to meet some more of my friends.

The second part, you're gonna be spotting what's wrong, so you're going to need some really good looking eyes.

In the third part, we're going to have a look at children's rights, what have you got the right to do? And in the final part, you are going to create your own scroll.

Hmm, have you heard of that before? Do you know what a scroll is? Well fear not, if you don't, you're gonna find out today anyway.

In this lesson, you are going to need some paper and a pencil.

You might want to use a pen, that's fine too.

You might even want some coloured pencils later on, but you don't need them.

What you need is just a pencil and paper.

Before we get started this morning, I've received a letter.

Now I don't really receive letters.

It's got my name on it, it's got my address on it, so I think I better open it, just in case it's really important.

I'll read it to you, then we can go meet my friends.

"Dear Mrs. Wade.

If you are reading this letter, we are in trouble.

Gretel and I went for a walk in the forest and got lost.

We came across a scrumptious house made of brightly coloured sweets.

A malicious witch invited us in, but now she has trapped us and won't let us go.

Come quick! We in the heart of the forest, you can't miss the house, it's made out of sweets.

Be careful when you get close, send help!" From Hansel.

These are my friends that we were meant to meet today! We've got to go, we've got to go and find them! I think that's it, I think that's the candy house that Hansel and Gretel are in.

We just need to find them now.

Shh! Ah, phew! I'm glad I got away before the witch got me too.

You need to look at these pictures that I managed to get.

Can you spot what's wrong with them? Look at this first one.

Is that how you spend your days? Are you allowed to go to school? Do you have to sit with nothing to do all day? Just doesn't seem right.

Have a look at this one.

Hansel and Gretel are crying in this one.

They don't look like they're loved.

Do you feel unloved and upset all the time? Is that normal? Take a look at this one.

I found them outside, sleeping with a piece of cardboard for a blanket.

Do you sleep outside? With cardboard for a blanket? What about the next one, Gretel looks really hungry, and Hansel's searching in a bin.

Is that how you get your food? Do you search in a bin for it? - [Witch] No, you're not having any food! - [Fairy Tale Authority] Excuse me! We have been informed that you are keeping children here in horrendous conditions.

Did you know that children have the right to shelter and protection? They have the right to feel safe and loved, the right to an education and the right to food.

You simply cannot keep the children like this, and we will be taking them back to their father! - Ah, what great news! The fairy tale authority managed to get there! Now did you hear her? Did you hear what she was saying? Yeah, you have rights.

As children, you have rights.

One of them was the right to shelter.

Can we think of an action for that so that we remember it? The right to shelter.

Excellent, can you do that? We'll do it on three, one, two, three, the right to shelter.

Excellent! The next one was protection.

So that means that somebody protects you and stops you from getting hurt.

Let's think of one for that.

What about this, what about protection? That's a good one, isn't it? Okay, let's do it after three.

One, two, three, the right to protection.

Excellent, okay.

The next one that she mentioned was feeling safe.

So when you're at home, you should feel safe.

So what could we have? Let's think of an action for that.

Safe, when I think of safe, I'm thinking of hugs, I'm thinking of being all cosy, with mom and dad, so I'm gonna do this, safe.

Okay, so let's do that, one, two, three, the right to feel safe.

Excellent, well done! The next one was loved.

You have the right to feel loved.

So let's think of an action for that.

I quite like this, I like it when people do the love heart with the hands.

So could we do this maybe, yeah? Okay, so let's do it together.

One, two, three, the right to feel loved.

Excellent! And the final one she mentioned was education.

That's when you're going to school to learn, you have the right to learn things.

Hmm, what could we have for an action for that? What about an education, 'cause you're learning things, you're growing your brain, aren't you? So let's do that one on three.

One, two, three, the right to education.

Excellent, well done guys! Now it's your turn to have a goal of writing your own scroll.

Did you see the fairy tale authority? She pulled out a scroll, didn't she? In fact, I've got it here, let me show you.

Let me just roll it up perfectly.

So it's started like this, okay? And then you can roll it out like this.

Now then, if you can't make it roll out, that's not the important bit.

The importance of it is what it says, okay? So to make your scroll really good, you need to start with the word dear.

And you could say dear sir or madam, or you might even say, to whom it may concern.

That's two ways that you can start your scroll.

Then, what I want you to include is some of the children's rights that you've learnt today.

Think about those actions that we did.

Remember this one, what was that one for? Shelter, well done.

We had this one.

Protection, excellent.

This one, loved.

To feel safe.

And the final one was education.

So you might want to use those ones, or you could even research some of your own, that'd be really impressive.

Now if you want to make it into a scroll, maybe you've got some rolling pins that you could use, maybe you've got some lollipop sticks, or maybe some straws that you could use.

Whatever you want to make it look like a scroll, you can do that.
