    In this lesson, we will introduce the topic preparing fruit and vegetables. We will explore a range of different fruits and vegetables to support children in identifying and naming a range of fruits and vegetables. We will then carry out an investigative and evaluative task. We will carry out a taste tasting exercise to allow children to say what they like and dislike and make simple judgements. This lesson includes some physical activity and equipment beyond pen, paper or pencil. Please make sure your child is adequately supervised.

    In this lesson, we will develop ideas for a fruit salad. We will explore a range of food products to help understand what food products are, who they are for and what they are for. We will then develop criteria and ideas for a fruit salad.

We will explore a range of other salad ideas and discuss our ideas. We will then create our own ideas for a savoury salad.

We will discuss the need to eat five portions of fruit and vegetables each day. We will discuss the procedures for safety and hygiene when preparing foods. Lastly, we will investigate how to combine the ingredients to make a smoothie.
