Keywords

  • Future - something that has not yet happened

  • Personal response - expressing your own opinions, ideas or feelings

  • Adjective - a word that describes a noun

  • Adverb - a word that describes a verb

Common misconception

Pupils may struggle to share what their aspiration is.

As well as listing the jobs referred to in the lesson, refer to jobs or careers that your pupils have specific interests in, such as sports people, authors, singers as well as jobs that parents or family members may have.

Spend time with the pupils reading and discussing the books mentioned in the lesson. As you are reading, talk about and generate a word bank about the jobs that you see as well as the skills that are required to have that job. Emphasise to pupils it is ok to not know what they want to aspire to.
