Common misconception

Pupils may think that instructions are always recipes as this is what they are looking at in this lesson.

Provide pupils with a varied range of different instructions for them to look at and pull out the different features discussed in the lesson.

Play lots of instruction-based games in class and the playground. Get the pupils to follow your instructions. Play around with putting instructions in the wrong order or not being precise enough.
