Common misconception
Pupils may struggle to speak correctly in the past tense, particularly with irregular verbs (e.g. saying 'sawed' or 'seed' for saw).
Use this lesson as an opportunity for as much oral rehearsal as possible to support children's errors in the moment. Repeat and re-model sentences back to them. Model incorrectly and ask the children to spot your mistakes.
