Key learning points
- Things you like or dislike are called your 'opinions'.
- People can agree or disagree with an opinion.
- Using the word 'because' will allow you to explain why you like or dislike something.
- Speaking in full sentences helps the listener understand what is being said.
- Successful speaking includes speaking loudly and clearly enough for everyone to hear.
Keywords
Opinion - something you think or believe
Agree - to feel the same way about something
Disagree - to feel differently about something
Common misconception
Some pupils may not have sufficient knowledge of different fairy tales and characters from them to be able to answer the questions.
Read and discuss the classic children's fairy tales regularly as part of story time with your class. These books could also be sent home. You could add more images to the slides as a prompt.
It would be beneficial for pupils to have done the Y1 'Jack and the Beanstalk' reading and writing unit prior to this lesson. You could also change the statements in LC2 to reflect a recent fairy tale shared with your class.
