- The fourth join goes from the x-height line up towards the ascender line.
- The letters l and k reach up to the ascender line. The letter t reaches between the x-height line and the ascender line.
- You do not lift your pencil when joining until the letter string is complete.
- The cross for the letter t is added once the letter string is complete.
Common misconception
Children may lift their pencils to form the joins.
Remind the children that the letters are joining and holding hands. If you lift your pencil then you are breaking the chain.
