Common misconception
Pupils miss out letters in 'century' because they cannot hear all the sounds.
Say the word slowly, as it is spelt, in order to empahsise all the letters: cen -tur -y.
Play a matching game with root words and words ending in the /shun/ suffixes covered so far in order to reinforce connections between the root word spelling and new spelling.
