Common misconception

Pupils may think that the words can only be used to describe cities.

Explain that the words can be used in different contexts, such as a 'hectic day' or an 'affluent lifestyle'. Provide pupils with additional sentences using these words so they can hear how to use them in context.

If you have extra time, you could ask pupils to write a sentence using each word. Encourage pupils to use the word pairs to help them.
