Common misconception

Children may not be aware where money comes from or make the connection between jobs and earnings.

Explain that many families get money through working but families are supported in other ways too.

This lesson could start with asking the children, 'Have you ever bought something then wished you hadn't?' Be aware that not all of the children will be given pocket money and some families will not believe in paying children to help out. These could provide interesting talking points, however.
