Key learning points
- Revisiting key phonics, vocabulary and grammar helps to embed knowledge.
- [a], [oi], [i], [ou], [u], [(e)au], [eu] and [é] are common French sounds.
- 'Je', 'tu' 'il', 'elle', 'nous', 'vous', 'ils' and 'elles' are French pronouns. Verbs change to match the pronoun.
- Yes/no and information questions can be formed with inversion: swap the subject and the verb '(quand) sors-tu ce soir ?'
- To make a sentence negative, use 'ne ...pas' around the verb.

Common misconception
The SSCs [ou] and [u] make the same sound in French.
The SSCs [ou] and [u] are similar but make different sounds in French. [ou] is pronounced as in 'nous' and [u] is pronounced as in 'tu'.
