Key learning points
- The sound symbol correspondence [ou] sounds like the 'ou' in 'nous', meaning 'we in French.
- The verb 'aller' means to go, going. 'Je vais' is I go, I am going, 'il,elle va' is he, she goes, is going.
- The 's' in 'vais' is usually a SFC, but when it is followed by a vowel, it is pronounced like the English 'z'.
- To express 'to (the)...' we use 'au' or 'à la' depending on whether the noun which follows, is masculine or feminine.
