Key learning points
- To ask a question in the perfect tense, use inversion, intonation or est-ce que.
- t-liaison is common in inversion questions in the perfect tense: A-t-il gagné?
- Indefinite adjectives are used to describe a noun in a non-specific sense. They go before the noun they describe.
- Même(s)', 'autre(s)', and 'quelque(s)', meaning 'same', 'other' and 'some', agree in number with the noun.
- 'Tout le' meaning 'whole' or 'all' agrees in number and gender. 'Chaque' (each) and 'plusieurs' (several) do not change.
Keywords
T-liaison - pronouncing a usually silent 't' because a word starting with a vowel follows
Indefinite adjective - describes a noun in a non-specific sense, e.g. some, even, each
Common misconception
'Chaque' and 'plusieurs' change form and can be written as 'chaques' and 'plusieur'.
The indefinite adjectives 'chaque' and 'plusieurs' are invariable and only have the one form. As they are highly useful, encourage students to use them frequently in their work.
Equipment
If possible, mini whiteboards and pens would be ideal for the quick check tasks found throughout the lesson.
