Key learning points
- To make an adjective feminine we can: add -e, -x to -se, -el to -elle, -en to -enne, -f to -ve, -er to ère
- If an adjective ends in mute -e, there is no change to form the feminine e.g. triste.
- To form plural adjectives we add an -s, unless the adjective ends in -x or -s. -al and -eau change to -aux and -eaux.
- [è] sounds like 'tête', important when pronouncing feminine agreements of adjectives ending in -er: entier, entière.
Keywords
Singular verb form - when you talk about something one person is doing: I, you, her or she
Adjective - a word that gives information about a noun
Noun - a word for a person, place or thing
Common misconception
Adjectives ending in -al take -s to create the masculine plural form.
Adjectives ending in -al need a spelling change to create the masculine plural form. Remove the -l and add -ux for example familial - familiaux in the masculine plural form.
