Key learning points

  1. Use part of the verb 'aller' plus an infinitive to express going to do e.g. Elles vont visiter Paris.
  2. Conjugate the simple future of -er verbs for nous, vous, ils/elles by adding the endings -ons, -ez, -ont to infinitive.
  3. There are many popular cultural events in France each year, such as the 'marche des fiertés' in Paris.

Keywords

  • Aller + infinitive - 2-verb structure meaning 'going to + infinitive'

  • Simple future - 1-verb future tense meaning 'will + verb'

Common misconception

When saying what you will do in French, a separate word is needed for 'will'.

The simple future in French is a simple tense because it is made of one word. The idea of 'will' is created through the correct verb stem and ending. Most -er verbs use the infinitive as stem for the simple future.
