- Each continent has different characteristics in terms of size, population and physical features.
- The UK is in the continent of Europe, which has 44 countries in total.
- Locations can be described using the acronym CLOCC.

Continent - A continent is a large land mass on Earth and there are seven: Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Oceania.
Ocean - An ocean is a very big area of salt water between the continents.
Scale - The scale on a map shows what size the area that is represented on the map really is.
Latitude - Lines of latitude are imaginary lines on Earth showing position north or south of the Equator, measured in degrees.
Common misconception
All maps are the same.
Different maps aim to show different things such as country borders, the location of physical features and the height of the land.
