Common misconception
Pupils may assume that all multiples of 5 are multiples of 10
Show children the relationship between 5s and 10s using the multiplication chart and number line. Make clear the relationship between the multiples of 5 and 10 through using stem sentences; for every one group of ten, there are two groups of 5
Continue to chorally rehearse 5 and 10 times tables. Pupils should become increasingly more fluent.
