Common misconception
Pupils may struggle to compare two time intervals when they are presented in different formats, such as five minutes to a quarter of an hour.
The lesson encourages converting time into minutes. Develop automaticity in recalling facts such as 15 minutes = quarter of an hour, 30 minutes = half an hour, 45 minutes = three quarters of an hour and 60 minutes = one hour.
