Key learning points

  1. Concussion is the sudden but short-lived loss of mental function that occurs after a blow to the head.
  2. A fracture is a partial or complete break in a bone that occurs when subjected to more force than it can withstand.
  3. A strain is a muscular injury that occurs when the muscle is overstretched or torn.
  4. A sprain is a joint injury that occurs when the ligament is overstretched or torn.
  5. Repetitive actions can inflame tendons, as is the case with golfer's elbow and tennis elbow.
