Key learning points
- The Prophet Muhammad taught that caring for the poor was an important responsibility.
- The story of the Hungry Stranger tells how he was cared for.
- The message of the story is about putting other people first.
Keywords
Responsibility - something that it is your job or duty to deal with
Stranger - someone you have never met before
Sacrifice - something valuable that you give up in order to achieve something, or the act of giving it up
Common misconception
Prayer is more important than caring for others.
Caring is as important as prayer.
The presence of the Prophet Muhammad is represented by a cloud/white light in some of the images in the slide deck. You might want to talk to pupils about the fact that most Muslims do not show representations of the Prophet and so this is a way to show his presence whilst respecting this idea.
