- The year can be divided into four seasons, each lasting approximately three months.
- The four seasons are winter, spring, summer and autumn.
- The season of spring occurs in March, April and May.
- The first signs of spring are more birdsong, buds on trees, and early flowers such as tulips and daffodils.
- Changes in spring can be described using observation skills.
Keywords
Season - Weather is what the conditions are like in a particular place at a particular time. For example, rain, wind or sun.
Spring - Spring is the season that comes after winter and before summer.
Observe - To observe is to look very closely and use other senses too.
Describe - To say or write what someone or something is like.
Change - If something changes it does not stay the same.
Common misconception
Pupils may associate different seasons with activities rather than physical characteristics like the weather.
