Key learning points

  1. The verbs 'tener', 'estar', 'es' and 'hacer' are useful to ask and answer questions.
  2. To say ‘I do’ or ‘I make’ say hago. To say ‘you do’ or ‘make’ say haces. To say she/he/it ‘does’ or ‘makes’ say hace.
  3. Use information questions to ask more information than 'yes/no'.

Keywords

  • Hacer - irregular verb meaning ‘to do, to make’

  • Hago - 1st person singular of 'hacer', meaning 'I do, I make'

  • Information question - question starting with a wh- word that has more information in the answer than yes/no

Common misconception

'Cuánto' is used to ask about one thing and 'cuántos' for several things.

'Cuánto' is used for uncountable nouns, not for one thing.
